Fishing Season with Wide Open Food Company
Fishing season is almost here in Middle Tennessee, and it is one of Wide Open Food Company’s favorite times of the year. We are gearing up by picking up a copy of the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency’s fishing season guide, where you can see Wide Open Food Company’s latest ad as well as get all the rules, regulations, tips and tricks, submission guidelines, and more that you will need to have a successful fishing season.
This year, we are also the newest sponsor of an online show on local Channel 5+, Southern Woods & Waters, featuring hunting and fishing tips from local celebrity Hugh McNaughten. Check out the latest episode here!
“Anything” Tartar Sauce: Use Original Anything Sauce instead of mayonnaise for a spin on tartar sauce that is both dairy- and egg-free. Add fresh-squeezed lemon to taste and your choice of dill or sweet relish—or even horseradish if you like a little kick!
Fried Crappie: The common Tennessee river and lake fish known as the crappie is especially good with Wide Open Food Company sauces and spices. Marinate your crappie filets in Creole or Wasabi (or your favorite flavor of Anything Sauce), then make a breading by mixing two cups of cornmeal with a quarter cup of Dizzee's Famous Cajun Seafood Boil and a quarter cup of Dizzee's Famous Creole Blackening Seasoning and fry it up to CLAIM YOUR FAME!
Fishing Snacks: Everyone gets hungry out on the boat or lakeside. Because Anything Sauces contain no eggs or dairy, they do not need to be refrigerated and are the perfect condiment to take along with all your fishing snacks. Dip sliced veggies or chips in your favorite flavor, or add some to a pouch of chicken, tuna, or salmon for an instant salad. Original Anything Sauce pairs well with chicken for chicken salad and the Wasabi is the perfect compliment to both tuna and salmon.
Of course, these are just a few of our favorite ways to use Anything Sauces and Spices during fishing season, but we want to see yours! Tag your creations on social media with #anythingsauces, and let us know how you use Wide Open Food Company products to take your fishing season to the next level.

Anything Sauce Recipes Perfect for Spring
Spring is slowly but surely descending on Middle Tennessee, and if you are looking for fun and exciting things to do to celebrate the warmer weather and the change in seasons, you are in luck! Wide Open Food Company will be at a host of different events this spring that promise to be fun for the whole family. From the Tennessee Boat and Fishing Expo to the Southern Women’s Show, there is something for everyone in Nashville this spring—and if it involves food, fun, family, or the outdoors, you can guarantee that Wide Open Food Company will be a part of it!
But when the events are over and you just want to relax in the park or by the lake with your friends and family, have a picnic, and enjoy the gorgeous weather, remember to use Anything Sauces in your culinary creations! Here are a few of our favorite spring-oriented picnic-friendly recipes using Anything Sauces and Spices:
- Mix canned chicken with Original Anything Sauce or canned tuna with Wasabi, then dip crackers or spread on a fresh croissant or bakery bread for an instant chicken or tuna salad with a twist.
- One bottle of Sweet Kick Anything Sauce makes an entire large bag of coleslaw to easily feed a larger group or have some leftovers for later.
- Any flavor of Anything Sauce can be used on your favorite kind of sandwich as a replacement for mayonnaise. Want a little kick? Use Chipotle Anything Sauce. If you are grilling, you can even use Anything Sauces on the outside of the bread for a tasty panini.
- The new Creole Anything Sauce is great to dip veggies in, and the accompanying Creole Blackening Seasoning can be added to a bag of plain unsalted or baked potato chips for a flavored chip without all the chemicals or additives.
If you or your family are celebrating or observing Lent this year, Anything Sauces make a great addition to a fish fry as well! Wasabi and Creole Anything Sauces particularly pair well with fried fish, but any flavor you like will do—and the Cajun Seafood Boil is the perfect choice to season your crawfish or shrimp stews. And remember to tag all of your creations with #AnythingSauces so we can see what you have made!

The Flavors of Mardi Gras
Mardi Gras is well known around the world as a time of feasting, indulgence, parties, celebrations, parades, and most importantly, delicious food. At Wide Open Food company, we owe much of our rich culinary heritage to the French Catholic settlers of Louisiana in the 16, 17, and 1800s who developed the traditional American Creole and Cajun flavors that influence so many of our products as well as our favorite recipes.
Mardi Gras began in the United States much like it began elsewhere: as a feast of indulgence before the religious season of fasting and penitence, Lent. As such, over the years it has developed very specific food traditions and flavor profiles that appeal to the best of our indulgent sides—strong spices, carbohydrate-rich treats, red meat and seafood, and more.
As a family that traces our heritage back to Louisiana, the flavors of Mardi Gras make themselves known in our Creole Anything Sauce, our Creole Blackening Seasoning, and our Cajun Seafood Boil, as well as many of the recipes we use them in! Here are a few of our favorite recipes to inspire you this Mardi Gras season and all year round—whenever you feel like treating yourself to a little something extra.
- Season your favorite meat with Creole Blackening Seasoning, then blacken in a cast-iron skillet substituting Creole Anything Sauce for butter or oil. Enjoy as is, or get even more indulgent by whipping up a homemade alfredo sauce with garlic, heavy cream, and parmesan cheese. Pour over whole-wheat fettuccine pasta to keep it just a little healthy.
- Boil shrimp, crawfish, or crab in our Cajun Seafood Boil, then use it in a classic Mardi Gras seafood gumbo to feed a crowd! On February 9, 2016 at 11:00 AM at one of Nashville’s favorite restaurants Someone’s In the Kitchen , Darcy “Diva” Young and her friend Charlotte will be demonstrating how to make Dizzeebyrd's Famous Gumbo with his new Gumbo Roux and Cajun Seafood Boil like a pro. The new Gumbo Roux and all Anything Sauces and Spices will be for sale!
- To soak up the gumbo, use Chipotle Anything Sauce in place of shortening in a traditional buttermilk biscuit recipe, then fold in cheddar cheese for an extra luxurious touch.
Even more ideas can be found at anythingsauces.com , but we want to hear yours! Tag us in your creations with the hashtag #anythingsauces and let us know how you use Anything Sauces in your Mardi Gras masterpieces.
Remember to catch Anything Sauces on Darcy “Diva” Young’s More at Midday program on February 4 and February 16, 2016 at 12:25 PM on WSMV Channel 4 Nashville! View previous More at Midday segments featuring Anything Sauces here and here . Following the February 4 appearance on WSMV Channel 4 we will be at the Tennessee Boat & Fishing Expo February 12-14 with our friend Big Jim Napier !

How to Have a Healthy and Delicious Super Bowl Season
Football and Super Bowl season is one of the most fun and exciting times of the year, but it can tend to fall as an inconvenience for those of us who are trying to stay true to our New Year’s resolutions of eating healthy and staying fit. Greasy burgers and hot dogs, high-carb finger food, and fatty queso dips are just a few of the staple football season foods that present a threat to the best of our health and wellness intentions.
Fortunately, with Anything Sauces from Wide Open Food Company, you do not have to compromise on taste or flavor to keep with your health goals! Here are a few of our favorite game-day recipes that will keep you full, happy, and on track all season long.
- Darn Good Meatballs: Choose your favorite meatballs from the store—the Wide Open Food Company family likes the all-beef gluten-free Italian style meatballs available at Sam’s Club. One bottle of Darn Good Anything Sauce will make an entire 6-pound bag of meatballs in the crock-pot. Enjoy them on a toothpick as appetizers or add them to a Pepperidge Farms hoagie with your favorite low-fat mozzarella or low-fat parmesan for a delicious meatball sub.
- Anything Sauce Pour-Overs: A cream cheese pour-over is a staple of Southern party food. Mix Chipotle Anything Sauce with a blackberry jam like the delicious one sold by our friends at Bell Buckle Country Store . Pour over reduced-fat cream cheese and enjoy with veggies or pita chips for a healthier alternative to queso dip. For a spicy alternative, try a Creole Anything Sauce pour-over mixed with Captain Rodney’s Mango Pepper Jelly to give your snacking a kick! Selected items from Bell Buckle Country Store and Captain Rodney’s are available alongside Anything Sauces in the Pick Tennessee section of many local Kroger stores.
- Quick and Easy Quesadillas: Sauté strips of chicken with green peppers and onions, and maybe a few freshly chopped jalapeños if you are brave. Sandwich them in between two low-carb tortillas with your favorite low-fat cheese and instead of butter or oil, fry in Chipotle Anything Sauce. Not only will you be using a healthier alternative, but you will be adding flavor that you just cannot get from butter or oil!
More recipes are available on our website at anythingsauces.com , but we want to see your creations! Tag us on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with the hashtag #anythingsauces, and let us see how you stay healthy and full during football season with Anything Sauces!
And for a little inspiration if you need it, be sure to check out Anything Sauces and Wide Open Food Company on Channel 4 WSMV’s program More at Midday with Darcy “Diva” Young, who will be sharing some delicious comfort food using her favorite Anything Sauces at selected times this month and next. The next installment is January 21, 2016 at 12:25 PM, so stay tuned!
We are thrilled to be featured on Darcy’s segment and look forward to continued partnership with her and all of our friends at WSMV!

Put a New Twist on Your Favorite Christmas Dishes with Anything Sauces
Christmas is just a few days away, and anyone who does not want to be at the grocery store at midnight on Christmas Eve has probably already begun the process of preparing food and gifts for all of their friends, family members, and loved ones.
At Wide Open Food Company, we have a number of traditional dishes we like to serve around the holidays, and a few that are unique traditions in our families. But no matter what we cook up, we love to add Anything Sauces and Spices to give our dishes that extra special something that makes them so memorable and delicious. Here are a few of our favorite holiday and Christmastime recipes using our delectable, sugar-free, gluten-free, low-carb sauces and specialty mixed spices!
If your family does a classic roasted ham for Christmas, make a Sweet Kick holiday ham glaze by mixing Sweet Kick Anything Sauce with crushed pineapple, maraschino cherry juice, and your favorite sweetener like brown sugar or honey. When the ham is done, use toothpicks to garnish the top with chunks of pineapple and maraschino cherries in a nice pattern, and you have a holiday dinner straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting!
For breakfast on Christmas morning, mix Chipotle or Creole Anything Sauce in with your scrambled eggs, or add it into your egg casserole as a substitute for butter, oil, or mayonnaise.
A unique but delicious and easy option for Christmas dinner is our classic Broccoli Chicken Bake. For an extra pop of flavor, marinate your chicken breasts in Chipotle or Creole Anything Sauce (or simply the Original Anything Sauce for those who like a more classic taste), then add a layer of slightly undercooked white or brown rice. Fill the rest of the dish with freshly chopped broccoli, cover with tin foil, and bake in the oven at 375° for two hours. When the chicken is nearly done, take off the tin foil and add a layer of your favorite freshly grated cheese—we like cheddar! Put back in the oven and broil until the cheese is golden-brown and bubbly, then serve and enjoy!
You can even use Original Anything Sauce as a replacement for butter or oil in brownie and cake batters—surprising, but true! It gives your sweet treats a moist and savory quality that butter just cannot compete with, and you will have a secret recipe everyone will be jealous of.
For an appetizer to enjoy while the rest of your meal is cooking, just one bottle of Darn Good Anything Sauce will make an entire 6-pound bag of meatballs in the crockpot to make sure no one goes hungry. The Darn Good Anything Sauce pairs especially well with medium and dry red wine like Merlot, so get the party started early!
At Wide Open Food Company, one of our more unique Christmas traditions is gumbo. We make our historic family recipe gumbo each year, and adding our Cajun Seafood Boil Spices ensures that it turns out right every time. We use a special, dry, butterless rue that makes it very unique, and for dipping, we create our very own Anything Sauce “garlic” breads! You can substitute Original Anything Sauce for butter to make classic toasted garlic bread in the oven, or choose Chipotle or Creole to make flavored bread that is perfect for dipping in any soup, stew, especially gumbo!
These are our favorite ways to use Anything Sauces and Spices around the holidays, but the possibilities are literally endless! We would love to see how you create your own family traditions and recipes using.

Take Your Thanksgiving to the Next Level with Anything Sauces
Thanksgiving is just a few days away, and preparation and meal planning for the big day is underway in most households across the country. The Wide Open Food Company family is planning a huge spread for our friends and loved ones using our favorite Anything Sauces to add a unique touch to our favorite dishes for a Thanksgiving that will go down in history!
The possibilities are literally endless when it comes to Anything Sauces—they can be used for anything!—but here are a few of our favorite suggestions:
- Make a Sweet Kick holiday ham glaze by combining Sweet Kick Anything Sauce with crushed pineapple, the juice from maraschino cherries, and your favorite sweetener like honey or light brown sugar. Garnish the top of your ham with chunks of pineapple and the maraschino cherries with toothpicks in a nice pattern. Bonus points if you save a little to dip in later on!
- Marinate or inject your turkey with any Anything Sauce—they make the perfect flavor complement and work whether you are baking, roasting, deep frying, or smoking.
- Jazz up your leftovers by adding Original Anything Sauce—or whatever flavor is your favorite—on a leftover turkey or ham sandwich.
- Substitute your choice of Anything Sauce for any of your family favorite recipes that call for mayonnaise, butter, or oil. Especially for casseroles, Anything Sauces will work in the same way but also add a new dimension of flavor that is out of this world!
- Keep the family out of your hair while you cook by preparing a few appetizers they can snack on while they wait. Just one bottle of Darn Good Anything Sauce will make a six-pound bag of delicious crock-pot cooked meatballs the whole family will love. Your favorite Anything Sauces make great dips for your vegetable & olive appetizer plates as well! We love the honey mustard flavor of Sweet Kick, or add Ranch seasoning packets to Original White BBQ for dairy and egg-free dipping—no worry of it going bad by sitting out due to the vinegar content!
- For all the risk-takers out there, you can even use Original or Chipotle (yes, Chipotle!) Anything Sauces as a substitute for butter or oil in brownies! Spicy chipotle brownies may sound a bit odd, but they are absolutely delicious and the hint of spice from the Chipotle Anything Sauce mixed with chocolate is simply divine.
These are just a few of our favorite ideas and suggestions that we have tried, but we encourage all of our Anything Sauce fans to try something new, take a risk, and make your own traditions and favorite holiday dishes! And of course, share with everyone with #DIZZEEBYRD; Claim YOUR Fame!
We want to extend a heartfelt thanks to our supermarket partners Kroger and Compton’s Foodland and to all our loyal customers who have made this year such a fabulously successful one, and we look forward to another year of bringing delicious Anything Sauces and Spices to the public! In the coming year, be on the lookout for our sampling booths so you can "taste and see that the sauce is good"! You can also "Spread The Byrd" by asking your local grocer to start carrying all 8 amazing Wide Open Food Company products!

Fawn, Fish, or Foul—Anything Sauces Go Great with Them All!
With the temperatures slowly dropping and fall in full swing in middle Tennessee, hunting season is officially upon us and will only ramp up further. People are breaking out their camouflage jumpsuits, reflective orange vests, all their hunting gear, and heading to the woods for weekends spent camping, cooking over a campfire, and of course—hunting. Many are hoping to stock their freezers full of delicious deer, duck, and other favorite game meats to keep them warm and well-fed all winter long, and at the Wide Open Food Company family, we are too!
Our Anything Sauces go great with tons of fall favorites and game meat. The Darn Good Sauce is the perfect addition to deer meat—take it to the processor and have it ground right along with the meat and put it in your jerky or summer sausage sticks, or mix it right in with your deer burger. Sweet Kick is great with duck, turkey, or any kind of wild bird, and just the right amount of sweet and savory flavors will take away any lingering gamey taste from the meat itself.
Any of our Anything Sauces can be added to plastic bags and thrown in the freezer right along with whatever meat you choose, so when you take it out to cook, it will already be marinated and ready to go! And of course, you can use our Anything Sauces as a quick snack while out in the woods or up in the stand, since they do not need to be refrigerated and will not go bad in your backpack!
You can also use our Original Sauce and add all the flavors of fall like nutmeg, cloves, cranberry, orange zest, or pecans for the perfect chicken salad dressing. Alternatively, add it to pumpkin puree along with eggs and spices for a pumpkin pie filling that is out of this world. The Original flavor is extremely adaptable and takes to added flavors well, so it can be used for just about anything you want! Your friends and family will want to know what your secret is this Thanksgiving when you bring a dish made with any of Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces.
And speaking of hunting, Wide Open Food Company and our beloved mascot @dizzeebyrd will be making an appearance at the 2015 West Tennessee Hunting and Fishing Outdoor Expo in Trenton, TN on October 23-25, 2015 alongside our friend “Big Jim” Napier, local celebrity, pro bass angler, and host of the show Fishing with the Stars. More information about this year’s Hunting and Fishing Outdoor Expo can be found on their website at reelfoot.com/expo_2015.htm .
That same weekend, we will also be hanging around the famed Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue in Lynchburg, TN on October 24, 2015, giving out samples and enjoying all that barbecuing has to offer. The annual Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue is not an event to miss, so put it on your calendars today!
And for all of our shows this fall, we will be offering special show sales and multi-pack discounts—from a 12-pack up to pallets of 90 cases and beyond! Call, email, or send a smoke signal from your barbecue to find out more! For more information about our products or to find out which stores near you sell Anything Sauces, give us a call today at (615) 500-9031 or visit our website at wideopenfoodco.com or anythingsauces.com . See you in the woods—just watch out for a plump red @Dizzeebyrd, and don’t shoot!
Wide Open Food Company Gives Back to the Community
At Wide Open Food Company, we take our place as a successful business in the community very seriously, and we know just how important it is to give back to the people who have given so much to us. That is why every year we are filled with joy to support several worthy local charitable organizations in the greater Nashville area. Together, we can help some of the most vulnerable members of society.
Jim Napier, a good friend of the Wide Open Food Company family, does so much with his career as a professional bass angler to raise money and awareness for childhood cancer prevention and treatment. A survivor of childhood cancer himself, “Big Jim,” as his friends call him, is passionate about finding a cure and supporting children and families experiencing childhood cancer. Last Christmas, Jim supported Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital’s cancer research efforts and continues to do so. “Big Jim” is also the host of his very own television show, Fishing with the Stars, where he takes beloved country music celebrities out on his boat to go fishing. Wide Open Food Company is proud to sponsor and partner with “Big Jim” Napier in all of his endeavors, and “Big Jim” sure loves his Anything Sauces!
We are also very ardent supporters of a local ministry that has impacted our family in very personal ways over the years: Mercy Multiplied . Mercy Multiplied is an international non-profit that helps young women ages 13 to 28 overcome major life crises such as addiction, abuse, homelessness, human trafficking, unplanned pregnancies, and more. They have changed hundreds and thousands of lives throughout Middle Tennessee and all across the globe, and we are honored to support them in their efforts here in our community.
Wide Open Food Company is a proud sponsor of Mercy Multiplied’s upcoming conference, “The Freedom Experience,” an event catering specifically to women struggling to overcome major issues in their lives. The Freedom Experience will take place October 2-3, 2015, and registration information can be found on the Mercy Multiplied website at: mercymultiplied.com/event/the-freedom-experience
There are many different worthy local charities in the middle Tennessee area, and these are a couple of the ones we have chosen to support as a family and as a company. We hope that you will support them as well; and we hope that no matter whom you support, you will enjoy your Anything Sauces with, well… EVERYTHING!

Barbecue, Food Trucks, Grilled Cheese—Oh My!
There is a lot happening this season with Dizzeebyrd and the Wide Open Food Company family. Plenty of fun fall activities abound that fans of Anything Sauces can attend in the greater Nashville area. But one of the events we are most excited about this fall is the official 27th annual Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue . This event is truly the “who’s who” of the barbecue world and will feature both professional and amateur barbecue teams from across the country to determine once and for all who will hold the “best barbecue in America” title for the coming year.
This year’s festival will be held on October 24, 2015, at the Wiseman Park & Lynchburg Square in Lynchburg, Tennessee, close to the one and only original Jack Daniels Distillery. Connoisseurs from around the USA will compete in the categories of Chicken, Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder/Butts, Beef Brisket, Dessert, Cook's Choice, and Jack Daniel's Sauce. A grand prize of $10,000 will be awarded to the Individual Grand Champion. Needless to say, The Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue is not an event to miss!
Although we will not be competing in the competition, Wide Open Food Company will be present and accounted for at the barbecue—grilling out, selling our sauces, and giving out samples so everyone can see just how amazing our Anything Sauces are with marinating, grilling, dipping, and more!
We are excited for this opportunity to attend, witness the competition, and make connections over barbecue in middle Tennessee, and we hope you will join us! Tickets for the Jack Daniels World Championship Invitational Barbecue can be purchased here .
We also wanted to take a moment this month and welcome Tom & Chee to the Nashville area as they have recently opened up their very first Nashville store on the west side off of Charlotte Pike. At Wide Open Food Company, we love grilled cheese in all its forms, and businesses like Tom & Chee and everyone's favorite local Nashville food truck, The Grilled Cheeserie , are taking grilled cheese to the next level with their delicious artisan grilled cheese sandwiches.
You can, of course, make your very own artisan grilled cheese sandwiches right at home with any of our versatile Anything Sauces. All you need is some quality bread and cheese, add meat or veggies, top it off with a little Anything Sauce, and voila! An instant hit for you and your family!
Anything Sauces can be used as a spread inside your sandwich, or as a replacement for butter on the outside for a grilled cheese that is out-of-this-world delicious. We have plenty of Dizzeebyrd’s recipes on our website, so go check it out today and get cooking!
To find out where you can pick up Anything Sauce at a local retailer near you or to order online, visit our website at wideopenfoodco.com or anythingsauces.com .
Make Back to School a Breeze with Wide Open Food Company
By now, most students in Tennessee have gone back to school for the year, and kids and parents are getting settled back into their day-to-day school season routine. Sometimes the routine makes a day easier; but sometimes it can be harder, especially when it comes to preparing quality, healthy, and delicious meals for you and your kids on the go. With a lack of easy storage options, sometimes it can be hard to know what to send kids that will not leave them reaching for their quarters to get a soda and some Oreos out of the vending machine.
Enter: Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces! They make the perfect addition to any lunchbox because they do not have to be refrigerated. Use the Original White BBQ Sauces as a replacement for mayonnaise on your child’s sandwich, or include a side portion for dipping carrot sticks, celery, or even apple slices for a sweet and savory treat. Of course, Anything sauces can be refrigerated for maximum longevity, but there is no risk of them going bad in your child’s lunch box like traditional mayonnaise!
And for easy dinners at home, marinate your meat in any of our sauces during the day and pop it in the oven when you get home. Slather it on top when it is done and you have a dairy-free, sugar-free, carb-free dinner that is as delicious as it is good for you. The possibilities are endless!
At Wide Open Food Company, we know that there are a lot of moving pieces to keep you and your family happy and healthy—and we know that food is a big one. Let us take some of the stress off your plate by giving you sauces and condiments that you can be confident in, and that will make your meal preparation process up to 250% easier (a proven scientific fact). We guarantee your kids and family will love our sauces on anything and everything—from meats to veggies to sandwiches and beyond.
Our Anything Sauces are currently available at many Kroger stores throughout the middle Tennessee area, as well as a variety of different independently owned grocery stores like Compton’s Foodland Supermarket in Percy Priest. We love our independent grocers and we are so proud to partner with them! Compton's Foodland is also currently the only store in Middle Tennessee to be carrying our brand new Creole Sauces and our Cajun Seafood Boil and Creole Blackening Seasonings on their shelves. Anything Sauces can also be ordered through our online store at wideopenfoodco.com/store and sampled at any of our various sampling events throughout Tennessee.
And remember, anytime you sample our Anything Sauces at one of our events, you have the opportunity to be entered into a monthly drawing to win a free six-pack of every single one of our Anything Sauces! Our winner last month was Misty Grant from Nashville.

Enjoy Endless Summer with Wide Open Food Company
It may not feel like it when you step outside, but in reality, cooler temperatures are right around the corner. That is why it is so important to savor the final flavors of summer before the cool, crisp weather of autumn makes its yearly debut. And at Wide Open Food Company , we are holding onto summer for dear life! Fortunately, there are still plenty of exciting outdoor events yet to come before we say our final goodbyes to summer for the year.
The Titans pre-season home games will be hosted at the newly renamed Nissan Field on August 23, 2015 and September 3, 2015. Wide Open Food Company will of course be present and accounted for at each one, including regular season games for the rest of the football season. Tailgating is a tradition with a long history that some say even dates back to certain Civil War battles.
But wherever it originated, tailgating has become an American pastime that is almost as important as the game itself. It is a great way to celebrate your favorite team and take part in some of the best flavors of summer and fall before winter comes. Stop by the Titans games Lot R, by The Gary Ashton , ReMax Elite Realtor tailgating party, and check out Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces, which we will be sampling for all of your grilling and snacking needs! It's like an 80-yard Game winning Touchdown pass on your tastebuds
Labor Day is also fast approaching, and many are beginning to make their plans to celebrate all the hard work the average American puts in every year. It is the official day-off to relax, recuperate, and spend time with friends and family. The Wide Open Food Company family is looking forward to spending the holiday on a fabulous whitewater rafting trip!
We hope that no matter what you choose to do with your Labor Day , you will invite Anything Sauces to the party! Our Anything Sauces are perfect for grilling, marinating, and dipping any and all finger foods. They make great salad dressings for the health conscious, and our spice blends (available exclusively in our online store) are the perfect addition to burgers, seafood, steaks, and grilled chicken. Dizzeebyrd's Famous Creole Blackening Seasoning and Cajun Seafood Boil are the authentic tastes of Louisiana along with our new Creole Anything Sauce
So before the end of the grilling season, make sure you stop by your local Kroger store to pick up a bottle of Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces from the Pick Tennessee! section. They are currently available in 35 Kroger stores with more to be added in the coming months.
You may also order any of our products from our online store at wideopenfoodco.com/store . For more information about all of our products, visit our website or call (615) 500-9031.
Wide Open Food Company Loves The Tennessee Titans!
Wide Open Food Company’s favorite time of the year will be here in just a few short days: tail-gating season! With the very first home game at the newly-renamed Nissan Field quickly approaching on August 23, 2015, we could not be more excited to start preparing our coolers and our grill and get on out to the party!
Martee Rule, founder and co-owner of Wide Open Food Company, is a longtime fan of the Titans , ranging back to their Houston days. But they have both been in Nashville for quite a while now, and Martee loves having such an amazing NFL team right here in town. Wide Open Food Company is a true fan of all sports, but the Titans in particular, and we love helping create even more great fans! We will be at every home game tailgating event outside Nissan Field from now until the end of the season alongside our good friend Gary Ashton of RE/MAX Elite , grilling and giving out samples of all of our incredible and savory Anything Sauces and spreading the word about our healthy, local, innovative products.
Also making an appearance at all of the tailgating events will be our beloved mascot Dizzeebyrd !
Every team has a mascot, and just like the Titans have T-Rac , we have Dizzeebyrd. Dizzeebyrd was born in Walla Walla, Washington, migrated south to Nashville, Tennessee, and has been flying around in search of delicious Anything Sauces ever since. Dizzeebyrd loves tailgating, football, and Anything Sauces (not necessarily in that order), and he cannot wait to meet all of the loyal Titans fans at Nissan Field and share his love of Anything Sauces with them!
And remember, because there is no dairy or eggs in any of our Anything Sauces, they do not need to be refrigerated—which leaves more room in your cooler for your favorite adult beverages. We hope to see you and your friends at Nissan Field on August 23, 2015 for the first Titans pre-season home game. Just look for the giant bird!
And if you find yourself in the vicinity of Bowling Green, Kentucky this weekend, be sure to stop by the Bowling Green Outdoor Adventure Expo . Wide Open Food Company will be there sampling our sauces and connecting with all of the vendors and attendees this weekend, August 14-16, 2015.
More information about all of our products as well as our upcoming events can be found on our website at wideopenfoodco.com . You can also find out where to buy some Anything Sauce of your own or order directly from our online store! Questions about stocking, locations, and anything else can be directed to (615) 500-9031.
“Take Me Out to the Ball Game” with Wide Open Food Company!
At Wide Open Food Company , we love nothing more than the classic flavors of summertime: long days, cool nights, barbecues, holidays, lake days, and of course, baseball! There is nothing quite like cheering on the Nashville Sounds at their historic First Tennessee Park with the classic “peanuts and crackerjacks,” a loaded hot dog, and an ice-cold beer in hand. It is how Tennesseans have been celebrating summer since baseball first captured the hearts of the local community in the late 1800s.
But you do not have to make the trek all the way out to the ballpark; you can enjoy the flavors of summer right in your own backyard. Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces bring them straight to you! We are here to share our absolutely favorite summer “dawg” recipe that will have you reminiscing over Nashville’s rich history of sports and food in no time.
Wide Open Food Company’s Nashville Junkyard “Dawg”
- First base: Take a quality bun, like Pepperidge Farm’s top sliced or soft potato bun , and add a slice of delicious, flavorful cheese like sharp cheddar or American to the bottom of the bun, lengthwise. The best way to do this is to slice the cheese in half. Squeeze a little Anything Sauce in a zig-zag pattern over the cheese—Chipotle if you like it spicy, Original if you prefer a more mild flavor.
- Second base: Add an all-beef hot dog such as this one from Johnsonville , or any hot dog that is made without nitrites or any other harmful additives or fillers.
- Third base: Top the “dawg” with a little homemade Sweet Kick coleslaw. One pound of pre-mixed coleslaw from a bag only needs a quarter of a bottle of Sweet Kick Anything Sauce to make the best coleslaw you have ever had!
- Home run: Drizzle the top of your creation with Darn Good Anything Sauce—as much or as little as you like!
- Grand slam home run: shake a bit of Creole Blackening Seasoning or Cajun Seafood Boil (currently available only in our online store) for an extra punch of heat and flavor.
- Take a victory lap! You have created your very first Nashville Junkyard “Dawg!”
With the amazing summer flavors of a classic hot dog blended seamlessly with the great and great-for-you tastes of Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces, you will feel like you are at the ballpark every time you bite into one of these delicious “dawgs.” Pair it with your favorite ice-cold beverage and voila! Summer has arrived. It may be going on its way soon, but you can have that delicious summer flavor anytime with Anything Sauces.

Wide Open Food Company Introduces: The Authentic Flavors of Louisiana!
Wide Open Food Company is proud to introduce the latest additions to our fantastic and versatile line of Anything Sauces: Creole Sauce, with Cajun Seafood Boil and Creole Blackening Seasoning! We bring you the authentic flavor of Louisiana in bottles, ready for all of your cooking, marinating, boiling, seasoning and dipping needs.
Our Creole Sauce is based on our Original White Barbecue Sauce recipe, so you already know it is delicious. It is then expertly blended with a combination of secret-recipe Cajun Spices straight from our Corporate President Rashelle’s family; her father has been serving crawfish from Louisiana with this particular blend of spices and seasonings for decades. We were eating crawfish one day, tasting the fiery yet addictive spice, and suddenly we knew we had to make it into an Anything Sauce!
Historically speaking, creole food was viewed as the more sophisticated, refined version of Louisiana cuisine that one might find in the city. Cajun', on the other hand, was thought of as the “country” cuisine, originating out of necessity rather than desire. Two main cultures are also represented, with Creole having some more Caribbean/Island influence and Cajun having French influence. Creole Anything Sauce and our two spices seamlessly blend these two lip-smacking traditions together in a sauce that is perfect for everything, not just seafood. “Use ANYTHING on EVERYTHING!”
Creole Anything Sauce is great on seafood, chicken, sandwiches, and more! Use it for a delicious and tangy cracker dip, or top the crackers with canned (or fresh) shrimp or oysters, and add a dash of Creole Anything on top! Use it to marinate meat before grilling, add to jambalaya, etoufee, or even an ear of roasted corn! Just like all our great sauces, you can do Anything with our Creole Sauce! Use WOFCO Cajun Seafood Boil to boil, season, enhance, sauté, or simply liven up any dish! The WOFCO Creole Blackening Seasoning is not only great for blackening fish, chicken, or any meat, but also as a barbecue dry rub. It is even a great substitute for salt on popcorn for a flaming, mouth-watering snack or movie treat! (Hint: Try it on potato chips—AMAZING!)
And best of all, like all of our other Anything Sauces, it is all-natural and good for you, devoid of harmful chemicals, additives, and fillers. Our Creole flavor is sugar-free, gluten-free, dairy-free, egg-free, and contains no MSG or trans fats. We also use a reduced-sodium spice blend for those watching their sodium intake. Even with all the flavors of a Mardis Gras party, there is still no room for guilt!
So to put some spice in your life (and some life in your menu!), pick up a bottle of our sauce with the creaminess of our Original White Barbecue and a fiery kick from the great historic flavors of Louisiana—Wide Open Food Company’s Creole Anything Sauce is what you want!
Creole Sauce will be available soon in Kroger stores throughout the greater Nashville area; the WOFCO CSB (Cajun Seafood Boil) and CBS (Creole Blackening Seasoning) will be available only on the website, pending introduction into Kroger stores. In the mean time, to order Creole Sauce and spices to call your own, visit our website at wideopenfoodco.com where you can order our unique healthy Anything Sauces directly, and join @Dizzeebyrd in his quest for Great American flavor at twitter.com/dizzeebyrd .
How to Eat Healthy On a Budget
These days, when you look at the prices in the grocery store, oftentimes it can seem like only the wealthy can afford to eat healthy. Organic vegetables, grass fed or pastured meat and free-range eggs can run upwards of twice as much as their processed and nonorganic counterparts, and in today’s economy, many people understandably cannot make the sacrifice.
But the truth is that even if you cannot buy all your groceries at Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, or Fresh Market (which most people cannot), there is still plenty you can do to make healthy food choices each and every day, all without breaking your budget. Here are a few of Wide Open Food Company’s favorite tips for eating healthy and maintaining a positive balance in your bank account.
- Pay attention to the “dirty dozen” —those fruits and vegetables that are most likely to be contaminated with pesticides because of the growing process and thin skin. For example, buying non-organic bananas is not something you should be too worried about, because the skin is thick and you do not eat it. But lettuce, on the other hand, should be purchased organic when possible (and fortunately, organic lettuce is only marginally more expensive than nonorganic).
- Check your local farmer’s markets and farm stands. Many times their prices are much more reasonable than the grocery store, and many times the farmer himself is standing right there so you can ask him exactly how he grows his food! It is also a great way to do your small part in building up the local economy.
- Speaking of local, buy it whenever possible. Many times local is cheaper because it does not have to be shipped far, and some grocery stores (like participating Kroger stores) have “discover local” and “Pick Tennessee” sections where you can find Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces as well as a variety of other local food items.
- Eat at home more than you eat out. In today’s fast-food drive-through society, many people do not put in the effort and time it takes to prepare and eat meals at home. But it is actually one of the mostly economically efficient things you can do. Food prepared at home can be eaten, saved, and even frozen at a fraction of the cost of eating meals out. It may take a bit more time, but the payoff to your health and your wallet is more than worth it.
And those are just a few of the tips we follow to help us make good food choices every day on a family budget. But we would love to hear yours! Reach out to us on our social media sites below and let us know how you keep your family healthy within your means. Please remember that Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces can be a great, tasty and affordable part of that plan. Our sauces are all natural, sugar-free, carb-free, and preservative-free—and most are gluten-free as well, for those with sensitivities or Celiac’s. We never use high fructose corn syrup or other cheap fillers as a base. And they will not cost you an arm and a leg, because we want people everywhere to be able to have such an amazing product.
Best of all, Anything Sauces can be a part of your money saving plan because, as the name implies, you can use Anything for everything! They are not just a marinade or just a dressing. They are multipurpose, so you get many different uses out of one bottle. With Independence Day fast approaching, you could conceivably marinate your meat, grill your ribs, garnish your hot dogs, and dress your salad all with one bottle! But with so many great flavors, we recommend you try them all! Our sauces are highly seasoned and concentrated—they go farther and last longer than traditional sauces. You can substitute just one bottle of Original for a whole jar of mayonnaise. Wasabi can marinate twelve pounds of salmon and Chipotle can marinate twelve pounds of chicken breast. Sweet Kick is enough for four pounds of coleslaw, and Darn Good will cover a six pound bag of frozen meatballs for appetizers or hoagies. There is literally no end to what you can do with Anything Sauces!
To find out where you can get your hands on some Anything Sauce of your own, visit our website at wideopenfoodco.com . You can also like us on Facebook at facebook.com/wideopenfoodcompany , follow Wide Open Food Company on Instagram at @wideopenfoodcompany, or follow our lovable mascot Dizzee Byrd on Twitter at @dizzeebyrd! Participating Kroger stores are currently featuring Anything sauces at a special sale price of $5.69 per bottle (instead of the everyday low price of $6.49 per bottle), and if your Kroger does not currently sell Anything Sauces, we encourage our loyal customers to request them to! The more requests they get, the more locations you will be able to conveniently buy Anything Sauces whenever you need them. See you at the grill!

The Importance of Reading Your Labels
Gone are the days when big-name corporate food manufacturers could sneak harmful synthetic ingredients into our food without anyone noticing. These days, most people understand the importance of reading the label on every item of food they purchase at the grocery store. But do you? If it is in the grocery store, is it not safe for our consumption?
Well, not necessarily.
Big chain food monopolies tend to be interested less in the health and quality of their ingredients, and more in the convenience and cost to them—profit is their bottom line, rather than the consumers’ health. And the laws surrounding food production in our country have not evolved as fast as the technology we use, so regulation on many ingredients that may or not be healthy for human consumption is virtually nonexistent in many cases.
This is why reading labels is essential! At Wide Open Food Company, we live by the adage that if you cannot pronounce it, do not put it in your body! You will be surprised at the sheer number of conventionally processed foods on the grocery store shelf that this rule omits. Next time you are grocery shopping, pick up your favorite crackers or a bottle of barbecue sauce, and take a look at the ingredients. If you have to be a scientist or have a master’s degree in chemistry to say them, that is a good clue that it is an item you may want to pass on.
It is also important to note that ingredients are listed by weight, highest to lowest, meaning that the first ingredient listed is the highest amount in the product, the second ingredient listed is the second highest amount in the product, and so on. Many conventional sauces at grocery stores have high fructose corn syrup listed as the first ingredient, which, while pronounceable, is decidedly unhealthy when consumed in excess. That means that barbecue sauce you love is MOSTLY high fructose corn syrup, with a bunch of other ingredients thrown in after that. That does not sound very tasty anymore, does it?
But the news is not all bad. Increasing levels of awareness about the importance of healthy eating and the danger of harmful chemicals in our food is leading to big changes in the food industry. In addition to purchasing real, whole foods from the produce, meat and dairy sections, there are literally hundreds of products you can buy that contain all natural, pronounceable ingredients—including Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces!
Every single one of our sauces is hand-crafted out of all-natural ingredients—no chemistry degree required! All are completely MSG-free, as well as dairy-free for our lactose-intolerant friends. Most are carb-free and either sugar-free or low-sugar, and only two contain trace amounts of gluten (due to the inclusion of worcestershire sauce).
And what is truly amazing about all of these “frees” is that in blind taste tests, no one can tell the difference! Our sauces taste BETTER than the unhealthy supermarket brands, without resorting to cheap chemicals or a base of high fructose corn syrup. They are versatile, addicting, and utterly delicious! “Mix It, Dip It, Grill It, Do ANYTHING With It!”
So if you do not read your labels yet, the next time you are in the grocery store, give it a shot! You may be surprised what you will learn is in your food. And when it comes to your sauces, you know you can always count on Wide Open Food Company’s Anything Sauces to bring you high quality, all natural ingredients with great tastes and flavors that will go with whatever you have planned for dinner tonight! "Use ANYTHING On EVERYTHING!"
For more information about any of our sauces or to find out where to get your hands on some Anything Sauces of your own, visit our website at wideopenfoodco.com .

Our 5 Flavors:
(1) Original Sauce
The main sauce created is the Original Sauce. This sauce is based on the white BBQ sauce that is popular in Alabama. It is completely gluten-free, MSG-free, dairy-free, egg-free, mayonnaise-free, sugar free, and has no trans fat. ! These qualities make it a great health conscious sauce choice! The Original Sauce has been rewarded for great quality and flavor by earning a Third Place Prize on the Food Network! This is noteworthy considering the sauce is not a typical tasting BBQ sauce.
(2) Wasabi Sauce
Wasabi Sauce is another delicious sauce in the collection. It is a mild wasabi sauce as it is only 4% wasabi. It goes great as a seafood condiment and great as a marinade when grilling any seafood or fish as a result.
(3) Chipotle Sauce
Chipotle Sauce has a smoky jalapeno taste making it a delicious flavor for any meat with its Mexican food flavor!
(4) Sweet Kick
For the honey mustard lovers, there is Sweet Kick! This is based on a Carolina mustard sauce with a special added blend. This blend creates a fantastic honey mustard with a little kick! Add this sauce to a bowl of coleslaw or potato salad, and enjoy!
(5) Darn Good Sauce
Darn Good Sauce is just how it sounds, darn good! This is a stand-alone sauce in the collection and can be a great healthy substitution for Ketchup and A1 Sauce. This sauce is MSG-free and has no trans fat. An added bonus is that this all-natural sauce has less sugar than the ketchup!
Wide Open Food Company is an all-natural company that is excited to spread their love for tasty sauces with the world! Of course they did! How could anything that you can mix with, dip with, and grill with taste so good! We believe the windows of Heaven are wide open over Wide Open Food Company! Like Anything Sauce pouring out on your favorite dish, we pray the Lord will pour out His blessings on you as you make your own divine cooking creations. MEET THE RULE FAMILY:
- Founders of Wide Open Food Company -
Martee and Rashelle Rule live in Nashville, Tennessee with their two sons, Chance and Christian. When they first got married The Lord told them He would "give them a business to help fund the ministry", and He has been faithful to help them do that for many years. They are now believing for a much greater impact than they ever could have imagined through Wide Open Food Company! They are passionate about helping others live their lives to the fullest and reach their greatest potential.
101: ANYTHING SAUCE BASICS
ORIGINAL, WASABI, AND CHIPOTLE ANYTHING SAUCES are all carb free, gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, and MSG free.
- ORIGINAL ANYTHING SAUCE is a relative to the Northern Alabama White BBQ sauce that is used as a dip for BBQ pork and chicken. But we created our own version and expanded its versatility, and now cooks are using it for much more than a dip. The greatest thing about Original Anything Sauce is you can create your own unique flavors by adding herbs, seasonings, citrus, hot sauce or one of our favorites -- SRIRACHA SAUCE! You may remember the ole’ Road Kill sauce that will make anything taste good? Well, that’s simply Original Anything Sauce and Sriracha Sauce combined to your taste. Voila -- Road Kill Elixyr! This is just the beginning of the unlimited uses for Original Anything Sauce.
- WASABI ANYTHING SAUCE has a very mild wasabi flavor. Interestingly, the more you shake Wasabi Anything Sauce, the hotter it gets.
- CHIPOTLE ANYTHING SAUCE is spicy jalepeno smoky awesomeness in a bottle! If you like the flavor but not the “spicy hot” then cooking with it removes the burn but not the flavor.
- SWEET KICK ANYTHING SAUCE is honey mustard flavor with a “kick”. It’s dairy free and MSG free, and honestly the sugar, the gluten and the carbs are very low.
- DARN GOOD ANYTHING SAUCE has a sweet and spicy tomato flavor that is so darn good we decided to call it Darn Good Anything Sauce. It’s dairy free and MSG free too. This sauce has the most sugar and carbs, but again the gluten is very minimal. Unless it’s a serious health issue, you don’t need to be concerned about the gluten because it’s just an ingredient within an ingredient.
FYI: ANYTHING SAUCES DON’T HAVE TO BE REFRIGERATED! They are shelf stable at room temperature for about 9 months!
201: CREATIVE IDEAS
There are no rules for using Anything Sauce. You are free to try a little of this or a lot of that!
- Anything Sauces are great for every type of cooking… marinating, sautéing, baking, grilling, and basting. Pour any of these flavors on chicken, turkey, beef, fish, tofu, enchiladas, tacos, pizza, sandwiches, or simply toss into noodles or casseroles.
- Anything Sauces are also a perfect substitute for oil, butter, mayonnaise, or salad dressing, and they make a great condiment for any dish. Flavors can be mixed or matched, and you can even add these sauces to cake, bread or baking mixes.
- Try grilling bread with Original, Wasabi, or Chipotle Anything Sauce. We call it Anything Bread (instead of garlic bread)!
- Try using Anything Sauce instead of butter and make our signature Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. Try making a grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwich or grilled Ruebens!
- Scrambled eggs are delicious with Anything Sauce. Heat Anything Sauce in the bottom of a skillet, pour in some whipped eggs, and scramble to perfection!
- Dip your favorite raw veggies, chips, or crackers in your favorite Anything Sauce.
- Create different flavors of dips. Add a Ranch flavor packet or any other flavor packet to any flavor of Anything Sauce. Mix with plain yogurt or sour cream for a thicker texture. Add Chipotle Anything Sauce to yogurt or sour cream for a southwest dip. If you want it hotter, add hot sauce or picante sauce and let it sit for a few hours before serving.
- Pour Anything Sauces, any flavor, straight from the bottle as a salad dressing or a condiment.
- Add Blue Cheese crumbles to Original Anything Sauce and set overnight -- the best ever!
- Try Wasabi instead of cocktail sauce on seafood, or mix Wasabi and cocktail sauce together.
- Add any flavor of Anything Sauce to tuna fish instead of mayonnaise.
- Spread any flavor of Anything Sauce on any sandwich! Think roast beef, turkey and avocado with Wasabi Anything Sauce!
- Avocados ala Anything: Mix your favorite flavor of Anything Sauce with an avocado! If you like, squeeze a lemon or lime into it, or add a hint of onion and cilantro. Spread your avocado ala Anything on a sandwich and dip it in Darn Good.
- Sweet Kick Anything is the chicken go-to sauce! Again, marinate, bake, grill, and dip. Put Sweet Kick in your egg salad, potato salad, deviled eggs, or coleslaw. Broccoli slaw and Sweet Kick is so good!
- Darn Good makes a great steak marinate, or mix it in with meatloaf or hamburger patties. Put it in your spaghetti, or make Darn Good Sloppy Joes. And of course, don’t forget our easy signature Darn Good Meatball Appetizers. Darn Good goes great on an antipasto salad or roasted tomatoes and mozzarella. Try it on French fries or 0nion rings instead of ketchup.
- Slice a fresh pineapple and brush with Anything Sauce and grill. Do the same thing with asparagus and Wasabi Anything Sauce. Try grilling any fruit or veggie with any flavor of Anything Sauce.
- ANYDO SAUCE -- not Alfredo Sauce! Heat up desired portion of whatever flavor of Anything Sauce and toss over pasta. Add fresh garlic, minced garlic or garlic powder and red pepper if you like. Allow to simmer until garlic is sautéed and add lots of parmesan cheese to taste. The parmesan cheese will thicken up the sauce and give you that cheesey texture. Sautee or grill chicken and/or vegetables in your favorite Anything Sauce. Then toss over pasta for your own creation of Anydo pasta.
- Serve with Anything Bread which is grilled bread made with your favorite Anything Sauce instead of butter.
