UFC Gym’s (Be a) Knockout Challenge for Women

UFC Gym Hendersonville is hosting a women’s only (Be a) Knockout Challenge just in time for summer, beginning on April 18, 2016, and running for six weeks. While women are encouraged to participate in all of our regularly scheduled classes and programs at UFC Gym Hendersonville, this challenge is tailored specifically for women to focus on areas in which most women want to see improvement, especially for upcoming warm weather activities and summertime vacations and trips.

But UFC Gym Hendersonville’s (Be a) Knockout Challenge is more than just a prep-for-summer bootcamp—though it will whip you into shape just in time for beach weather. The (Be a) Knockout Challenge is also a comprehensive health and nutrition challenge, where participants will meet every two weeks with our certified coaches to go over healthy eating plans that fit their lifestyle and any nutritional hurdles they may be trying to overcome. They will also be able to order any necessary supplements and receive full BMI and body measurements in order to be able to set up a six-week plan to meet their goals!

And of course, there are the workouts. Throughout the duration of the challenge, women will be attending two functional fitness classes of their choice each week, as well as two women-only Daily Ultimate Training (DUT) classes that we call BABES (“booty and abs!”)—for a total of four classes each week.

These four weekly classes, when combined with solid nutritional and lifestyle advice from our UFC Gym coaches, can yield visible and remarkable results in just six weeks. All participants will receive a t-shirt and the chance to win extra prizes. Our coaches will also vote for “Most Improved” at the end of the challenge and the winner will receive a prize pack and a free month’s membership at UFC Gym Hendersonville.

The (Be a) Knockout Challenge is open to both members and non-members of UFC Gym Hendersonville. Members pay just $40 to participate in the challenge, and non-members pay $150 with unlimited access to the gym for the duration of the challenge.

Nutrition Coaching Services at UFC Gym Hendersonville

It has been said that “you cannot outrun a bad diet,” and almost all experts agree. Statistics vary, but most say that weight loss and physical fitness is 70% what you eat and only 30% the amount and types of physical activity you do. So while physical activity is important and even vital, a solid fitness plan is nothing without the nutritional knowledge and plan to help it succeed.

Unfortunately, because most gyms and physical trainers are not registered dietitians and nutritionists, it is actually illegal for them to put their clients on a nutrition plan. The Importance of Varying Your Exercise Routine

There are many reasons why people do not stick with an exercise or fitness routine, but the most common reasons boil down to two common themes:

- People are bored.

- People are not seeing results.

Fortunately, there is one simple tweak you can make to your exercise routine that will avoid both of these common pitfalls: vary it up!

If you do the same thing for fitness and exercise day in and day out, your body will only be challenged by it in the beginning. Sure, at first it is hard to run 5 miles per day, but if you run 5 miles per day every day, your body will eventually adapt and muscle memory will take over in place of actual hard work. The most important thing is to participate in a variety of different types of workouts, using different methods, and different muscle groups. Adhering to the principle of muscle confusion will not only prevent boredom, but also ensures a far less likelihood of hitting a plateau. With variation, you will get to see those amazing results that got you motivated in the first place.

UFC Gym Hendersonville Supports Local Vets

In honor of Veterans Day on November 11, 2015, UFC Gym Hendersonville will be opening our doors absolutely free of charge for all military veterans and their family members from November 11-November 15, 2015. Veterans and their families will be able to come to our facility, work out, and take any and all classes they desire, completely free.

Then, on Saturday, November 14, we will host an all-day charity fundraising event featuring a military-style workout as a part of our Daily Alternate Training (DAT) program, a highly effective High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) exercise. This event will be completely free as well, but we will be raising money for both the nationally recognized Wounded Warrior Project and the local Nashville organization, Nashville Honors Heroes.

The Wounded Warrior Project exists to provide programs and aid to veterans who have been injured in various ways in the line of duty. The Nashville Honors Heroes seeks to make Nashville the most veteran-friendly city in the country by raising awareness and creating a plan to synthesize the current milieu of veteran aid programs in the city.

Both of these causes are very near and dear to our hearts at UFC Gym Hendersonville because we are a veteran-owned company. Owner Sean Patton spent over a decade in active service, and upon finishing his time in March of 2015, he decided to create a business that would help him and other military veterans stay in shape and stay involved in their community. Patton is also the chairman of the board of directors of Nashville Honors Heroes, and he hopes that UFC Gym Hendersonville will be a positive force in the Hendersonville and greater Nashville community when it comes to reaching out and giving back to all of our beloved veterans.

The UFC Gym Hendersonville’s soft opening is less than two weeks away, and we could not be more excited about finally being open and ready to serve the Hendersonville community with quality MMA-based classes and fitness instruction.

Youth Programs Help Prevent Bullying at UFC Gym Hendersonville

At UFC Gym Hendersonville , we pride ourselves on being the most family-friendly gym in the Hendersonville area. We are looking forward to many years of helping youth in and around Hendersonville to learn valuable MMA-based techniques, adding to their confidence, reduce rates of childhood obesity, and help fight the good fight against adolescent bullying.

The first Monday of October, with this year falling on October 5, 2015, is World Bullying Prevention Day. Bullying is a very real problem that faces many children each and every day. If left unaddressed, bullying can lead to increased rates of abuse and addiction well into adulthood. We support efforts to raise awareness on World Bullying Prevention Day , but we also want to work all year round to do our part in addressing the problem of adolescent bullying.

That is why bullying prevention and self-defense are such a core part of our youth MMA program at UFC Gym Hendersonville. Our daily youth MMA class will be comprised of a combination of functional fitness, MMA training, self-discipline, self-defense, and empowerment/confidence rituals to keep kids fit and prepared. Students will be able to face situations in school or in society where they might be called upon to de-escalate a situation by protecting themselves or others.

Our anti-bullying curriculum will be integrated into the classes where kids ages 6 to 12 will be able to learn valuable life and fitness lessons, all taught by our qualified and compassionate instructor, Logan Nash.

The youth MMA class will take place at the same time as many of our early evening adult classes, so children and families will be able to attend UFC Gym Hendersonville together and attend classes concurrently. In today’s fast paced world, the time for children and parents to spend together sharing a common experience is invaluable!

UFC Gym Hendersonville will also be offering an additional youth Brazilian jiu-jitsu class for ages 6 to 12 and up to 15, which will be fully accredited by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) and taught by our resident jiu-jitsu black belts Cory Robison and George King. Youth jiu-jitsu, which will be offered gi or no gi, will serve especially well as a transitional class for teens to hone their skills before transferring to adult jiu-jitsu classes. Not only that, but jiu-jitsu is a non-striking martial art—instead of escalating a physical confrontation by hitting back, your child will learn to be able to protect themselves and others, controlling their attacker while calling for help from an adult. This protects everyone involved as jiu-jitsu is like fighting fire with water, not fire with more fire. UFC Gym Hendersonville is the only IBJJF-accredited gym in the Hendersonville area, so this is not an opportunity for your child to miss!
