To FLY or to MODI(FLY)

Your body already knows the answer. Do that.

Have you ever been to a yoga class where they give you an option to "split your hands and take the variation," "stay exactly where you are" or "drop your back knee and take the modification?" This happens daily for me because Shakti always offers the modification. Why? Because taking the modification can make you stronger, and it also honors your body exactly where it is now - not yesterday - now.

Sometimes when I hear the variation, my ego goes "fly Kate, fly!" and my body says "I'm in!" But other days, my ego says, "fly Kate, FLY!" but my body says, "please don't. I can't today." Some days I do what my ego says and I fly anyway - at the end of my practice I feel defeated and like I let myself down - like I didn't do my best. But I did that to myself - all because I listened to my ego and didn't honor my body and I didn't give it what it needed. No matter what sort of yoga class you go to, I promise it is the goal of your instructor to leave you in your own greatness - but that's on you whether you choose honor your true greatness or whether you try to "honor" your ego's.

This same idea applies in the gym and can look many different ways. Sometimes you modify something by using the TRX instead of weights. Sometimes you use less weight. Sometimes you move more slowly. Sometimes you don't use the TRX at all. Sometimes you bike instead of run. But no matter how you modify, if you're listening to your body, your modification will actually make you stronger - physically and mentally! When you continuously try to do something that you are physically incapable of doing, you will feel defeated by that movement and you will not gain strength, you also won't want to come back and try it again at all. When you take the modification, you will gain strength. And when done consistently, you will gain strength quickly! Your body likes to adapt - so give it that option! Choose the modification. Listen to your body.

I recently received the most wonderful testimonial from Bridgette who is slowly recovering from a surgery that ripped up all of her core. She's been with GetFit615 for about 3 months and here's what she has to say,

I cannot say enough positive things about GetFit615 and its owner/trainer/beating heart Kate Moore. This may be the first time in my life that I have not only enjoyed exercising, but that its truly worked for improving my body, mind, and spirit. I realized this recently when I went stand-up paddleboarding for the first time in my life. I have been with GetFit615 for about 3 months now, and when I joined I was just coming off of an almost yearlong surgical recovery. I had absolutely no strength in any muscle in my body, including my core (where my surgery had actually happened). Kate not only got me back into a routine of exercise, but helped me modify everything so that I could get stronger and improve at every class. Three months later, standing on that paddleboard in a choppy river, feeling stable and strong and paddling for almost 3 miles (with only one fall, which wasn’t even my fault!) I understood exactly how much this gym had really done for me.

When Bridgette first started at GetFit615, she literally modified everything. Everything. She still modifies a lot of things because of her surgery, but we're getting to where we're changing up the modifications. We're making them a little bit harder week-by-week. On her first day, putting her feet in the TRX and even just holding a plank was not an option. These days, she's doing pikes left and right! And that's because Bridgette has been patient with her body - she's taken the modifications and she's stronger for it every single day.

So I encourage you to take the modification when you need to and fly when you can!

Happy Sweating!

- Kate

What do you love about yourself?

Let's talk self-love...

This is my first trip to Bondi Beach in Australia. The water is perfectly clear. There isn't a cloud in the sky. And I am with a group of people that I will never EVER forget and who I love enormously. I am so happy.

I learned a lot about self-love on this trip. I learned that it is more important to spend time together over hot chocolate than to count the calories in it. That it's more important to go on once in a lifetime adventures than it is to not gain a few pounds.

That making memories is more important than shaming my body.

The beaches of Australia changed the way I see my body. The people I spent time with changed the way I speak to myself, and the way I speak about myself. They changed me because of the way THEY spoke to me. Because they wouldn't let me say, "I feel fat" or other self-deprecating talk. They created space for joy, happiness and laughter.

Talk to yourself the same way you would talk to someone you love. Because you should be someone that you LOVE! And invite your friends to do the same. Create space for love, laughter, joy and abundance!

I am encouraging. I am funny. I have a great smile. I’m a lot of fun! I am kind. I have a great ass. I have amazing friends. I am surrounded by love all day. I am strong. I have incredible hair.

Those are a few things I love about myself :)What do you love about yourself???

Happy National 615 Day!

June 15... 6/15. That's today!!

What's that mean here in Nashville? It means support your local favorites! So here's a list of some of my local favorites:

- Shakti Power Yoga - This community... swoon. Owned and operated by the incredible Farina sisters who have always called Nashville home. Sometimes their precious parents stop by to help with things around the house, as loving parents do :) It's a family and they are so open to making you part of it.

- I've got a serious Girl Crush on Castilleja in Edgehill Village. In fact, I was there today getting a fathers day present. As a fitness professional, I always have water with me and these days it's always in my S'well water bottle which the amazing Hayley who owns the joint has gotten me hooked on. Hot for 12 hours (aka, my coffee, provided by Edgehill Cafe ) and cold for 24 (aka, the water that would now be hot had it been in a regular water bottle throughout my class at Shakti)!

- Music City Mise ... because she provides locally sourced and fully prepped food to my belly.

- Stand Up Paddleboarding with Nashville Paddle Co - because laughing and sweating and sunscreen is exactly how I like to spend my weekends.

- Percy Priest - specifically the stairs at Belle Meade. I go up them once, run/jog/walk the white trail and then shower. Immediately. The sweat...

- Lightning 100 - today they're playing ALL local music! Because it's National 615 day! Support your local artists and call in with some requests!

- Porter Road Butcher - if you follow GetFit615 on Insta , you already know this. But I can't even express how important locally sourced and humanely raised meat is. It's healthier for you. It's healthier for the animal. And it's healthier for this planet. PRB is doing things right and I support that.

- The Turnip Truck - Every day. Sometimes twice. Best little grocery shop - go to the one in the Gulch for their hot bar at lunch. Having some sort of sickness or not feeling good? Talk to Miss Dolly. She literally cares for me like a mother.

- OnTheEnd Crossfit - because if i'm going to lift really heavy stuff, I'm going to do it with people that support me and make me laugh and who also went to Belmont and who also can't keep their eyes open in pictures.

- The Yacht Club Co . - The owner texts me "cool beans." I like that. They sell shirts. They also make the incredible 615 shirt that you keep seeing everywhere! Click on the link and then shop GetFit615.

- The Blowout Co . - They do your hair. They do your wedding hair. They do your date night hair. They do your oh-you-think-I-did-this-myself hair. They're amazing and kind and inspire me every day to do exactly what makes me happy.

Those are just some of my favorite places. And I think they should be some of yours too! But if there not that's ok!! What are some of your favorite things to do in Nashville that didn't make this list?

Happy Sweating! Happy local-ing!

How to Start Working Out Again in Nashville, TN

If you haven’t worked out or hit the gym in a long time, the prospect of starting again can be intimidating—especially with the variety of options, workouts, and locations available. How do you even know where to start?

Here are some tips from a used-to-be beginner:

Step out of your comfort zone!

The comfort zone is probably why you stopped working out in the first place, and it’s not doing you any favors now. Recognize that staying in your comfort zone is holding you back. So, make a conscious decision to be healthy, take care of your body, find a supportive community, and do something that makes you feel good! Remember that everybody in every studio or gym that you go to was once stuck in their comfort zone, too—we’ve literally all been there. So get up, get out, and get moving! This goes for people who are stuck in a rut, too. You’ve been going to the same gym for two years and it could be time to move on and join a second community! Don’t be scared of new places! Just do it.

Give ClassPass a try!

The days of going to one typical gym and working out on a couple of boring, ineffective stationary machines are over (PRAISE)! Not only that, but it is basically the least effective (and least fun!) way to work out and get sweaty. ClassPass allows you to try a variety of different gyms and classes so you can find the best fit for YOU and become a part of a fitness community that supports you and your goals!

Speaking of community, for some, it is the most important part of this whole equation!

No one can achieve and maintain a healthy lifestyle alone, and you simply won’t go to the gym and participate in the classes if you don’t like the people and the instructors. It is essential to be proactive about finding a fitness community where you enjoy the people around you. Some of the most amazing and life-changing friendships start in your gym! So don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.

Reach out to the studio or gym that you’re thinking about going to – ask questions!

Make sure you have all the things that you need to have for your first class. But also know that the studio will have what you need if it’s totally essential. For instance, yoga studios always have mats for rent. Gyms will always have water…. Those kinds of things. Sneakers and sports bra though? Those are normally up to you.

Introduce yourself when you arrive – if you’re brand new to this kind of workout, let the instructor know!

In my opinion, they should ask, but that doesn’t always happen and that’s okay! Just jump right on in there and say “Hey, I’ve never taken a class like this.” That way they’ll know to keep an eye on you.

Don’t be afraid to look around!

If you’re going to your first yoga class where you stay in one place within the room the entire time, go to the middle of the room. That way, in down dog, you can look behind you. In mountain pose you can look in front of you and in straddle fold you can look beside you – you’ll feel less lost. Same thing goes even if you’re moving all over the place: look around! Other people will reach out to you and help you. “It takes a village” doesn’t just apply to children—I’m thankful every single day for my village!

If this sounds overwhelming, don’t worry. You CAN do it. You ARE okay. We have ALL been there.

And remember, GetFit615 is a great place to start! Whether you are a seasoned workout pro or just a beginner, we are here to answer your questions and get you started on the path to lifelong health, fitness, and sweatiness! Give us a call at (615) 426-4785 or visit our website at !

Give Class Pass a Shot in Nashville, TN

There’s a new fitness trend sweeping the Nashville area and beyond— Class Pass ! Class Pass is a monthly multi-gym membership that allows participants to try out a huge variety of fitness classes at different gyms around town in order to gain new experiences and see what might be the best fit for you.

In addition to GetFit615 on Music Row, participating gyms include a few of our favorites:

- Results Fitness (also on Music Row)

- Shakti Power Yoga (in our same building!)

- Shed Fitness (Belle Meade)

- Krank Fitness (Green Hills)

- Quest Fitness (Cool Springs)

- Title Boxing (Church Street, Green Hills AND Cool Springs)

- And so many more!

Whether you’re looking for a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training), yoga, cycling, or something else, ClassPass is a great way to try them all before committing to a contract somewhere. ClassPass combines the best of the best when it comes to local studios and helps you find a place to workout that fits your lifestyle and your passions. It gets you out of your comfort zone and trying new things! It helps you discover a workout that you will actually stick to—because you’ll actually like doing it.

There are only two points that I would like to make ClassPassers aware of:

- Lots of studios have an amazing community of members (especially the studios listed above!) and being part of ClassPass CAN make it a little bit harder to put down roots with one particular community. BUT a great way we suggest to get around that is to buy a package of classes through the individual studios you like as well, so you will get to go more than three times in a month! It’s always nice to have an entire studio full of folks missing you when you miss a practice.

- Some studios program their workouts—that is, by design, some days are harder than others. Some days are all weights while others might be mostly body weight, whereas others are meant to be a bit more restorative. So, as you begin to try out new places, just keep in mind you might not be getting the same workout that you did last time you were there—this week you might get all legs, or all weights, or maybe it’s an easier day… the more often you go to the same studio, the more you’ll get the hang of things!

If you have any questions about ClassPass or GetFit615, feel free to contact us anytime! Visit our website at .

New Shirts Available!

Be Careful Where You Go For #FITSPIRATION Nashville: How The Internet Is Contributing To Negative Body Images

This is an open letter to all women - especially those of you on Pinterest and #Fitspiration pages. Wait. Stop. This is an open letter TO EVERYONE WHO THINKS THAT THEIR BODY IS SUPPOSED TO LOOK A CERTAIN WAY.

I'd like to break down a few phrases that we hear, and probably even say. They seem like great things to say (and hear) and I'm certainly guilty of saying them (and smiling when I hear them). But actually, they're all wrong. They're just as "fat-shaming" as other harmful phrases like, "I'm feeling fat today" and "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" (we all know that's a fucking lie. My grandmother's pecan pie is absolutely delicious and I will never NOT have a slice of it. Ever.)

"You should be proud of the way you look!"

Wait, but YOU ARE NOT YOUR BODY. And you should be proud of what you can DO with your body.

"You're beautiful just the way you are!"

I'm sure you are beautiful - gorgeous probably! But why is that so damn important? You will never be more or less loved depending on how beautiful you are or are not. And if you are "loved" for your beauty, then you aren't being loved for who you actually are. Because you are not your body. You are not your beauty.

"Skinny girls look good in clothes, fit girls look good naked."

You see the trend here right? You should be exercising and taking care of your body because it's a vessel in which you, and your spirit, and your mind reside. It's the tool that we've been given in order to live our lives, be happy, and realize our greatness! If we don't take care of this vessel and this tool, then we wouldn't be able to actually fulfill our potential... Skinny looks just as good naked as fit does. ALSO IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE NAKED.

If you're worried that you aren't loved because you don't have a "perfect body," please read this: I asked 100 men what "physical beauty" is and the results shocked me . A client sent me this in an email and said "Kate, This is an article I thought you would enjoy." Love.

Here's what inspired this article:

I was perusing Pinterest for some workout inspiration/ideas today and then this happened... it happened over and over and over. And then I got to clicking on the hashtags. And then my blood started to boil. And then I decided to write this post that I've been struggling with for a long time. Because I'm all-aboard the "no fat-shaming" train we're all on right now. But it's so focused on how you LOOK. Just like this picture. These women obviously spend a lot of time using their bodies. The idea with these posts is to say "Reason #0127 I workout: to see what your body was made to look like." THAT CAN'T BE MORE WRONG!!! IT'S TO USE THIS AMAZING VESSEL THAT WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO IT'S GREATEST POTENTIAL! It's the reason your mom won't let you sit too close to the TV - your brain will turn to mush. So she sends you to school to help you get better at things like math and science and art. It doesn't seem hard for us to understand that our mind is an incredible tool. Why is it so hard for us to realize that our bodies are incredible tools and that we're doing ourselves a complete disservice by stuffing them with another bag of potato chips?! We should treat them like our minds - the more you exercise them and put them to work, the greater the potential for greatness and learning and creativity!

And then I saw this picture and sent it to a friend.. His response literally brought tears to my eyes: "sorry people. I like my girls healthy and confident."

So while I would love for pictures like this to just stop circulating the interwebs, I know that won't happen. So what I want to inspire you to do, is ignore them. Think more about what makes you happy in life and do that. Think less about how you look. Because the less you think about bullshit, the more time you'll have in your day to make this life beautiful.

We're doing the Whole30

And it starts on Monday

I've convinced my roommates to join me on a Whole30 adventure starting on Monday! Then I convinced some co-workers (who sit at desks... ewww) to join us. And now I think you should too!! We're starting on MONDAY MARCH 16 and we're ending 30 days later! (If you can't start when we start, that's cool! Just start when you can, and end 30 days later!)

Here's a link to what the Whole30 is and why you should do it. But in summary:

Certain food groups (like sugar, grains, dairy and legumes) could be having a negative impact on your health and fitness without you even realizing it. Are your energy levels inconsistent or non-existent? Do you have aches and pains that can’t be explained by over-use or injury? Are you having a hard time losing weight no matter how hard you try? Do you have some sort of condition (like skin issues, digestive ailments, seasonal allergies or fertility issues) that medication hasn’t helped? These symptoms may be directly related to the foods you eat – even the “healthy” stuff. So how do you know if (and how) these foods are affecting you?

Strip them from your diet completely. Cut out all the psychologically unhealthy, hormone-unbalancing, gut-disrupting, inflammatory food groups for a full 30 days. Let your body heal and recover from whatever effects those foods may be causing. Push the “reset” button with your metabolism, systemic inflammation, and the downstream effects of the food choices you’ve been making. Learn once and for all how the foods you’ve been eating are actually affecting your day to day life, and your long term health. The most important reason to keep reading?

This will change your life.

We cannot possibly put enough emphasis on this simple fact—the next 30 days will change your life. It will change the way you think about food, it will change your tastes, it will change your habits and your cravings. It could, quite possibly, change the emotional relationship you have with food, and with your body. It has the potential to change the way you eat for the rest of your life. We know this because we did it, and tens of thousands of people have done it since, and it changed our lives (and their lives) in a very permanent fashion.

Join us!! Let us be your support group in this! We need your help just as much as you need ours. Email me if you have questions: Send me some before pictures if you want to, and then afterwards you'll be so shocked. Let me know how you're feeling. What parts are you struggling with? What parts seem too good to be true?

This doesn't cost you anything.

I just want you to be healthy and I will do everything I can to support you in that.

What does HIIT even stand for? High Intensity Interval Training

What does that mean? It means that you perform short bursts of high intensity exercises.

Like, ok, fine… what’s a “high intensity exercise?” Think box jumps. Think squat jumps (we call them Squat Explosions at GetFit615). Think thrusters (get your head out of the gutter - this is a movement where you are holding either a weighted barbell, kettlebells or dumbbells and you do a front squat and then on your way up, using momentum through your legs, you get that weight up into the air as a overhead press). Think Burpees. Think Renegade Burpees (a burpee where you are also holding dumbells and at the bottom, after your push up, you do a renegade row on both sides, then come up and instead of jumping, you do an overhead press. Thank you Megan Conner for making me do these the other day...)… The list could go on forever. And you can always turn your favorite exercise into a high intensity interval circuit!

But what are the benefits and why should I ditch my hour at the gym for a 30-45 minute HIIT workout?

Ermahgerd. SO. MANY. REASONS.

It’s more EFFICIENT – you do SO much work in a short period of time. Your heart rate is higher. Your muscles are doing more work. They’re engaging in so many different ways - stability, strength, endurance AND power! You’re burning more calories. You’re sweating more. You’re just working harder!

Mentally, HIIT is easier – think about running on a treadmill for 6 miles. That could take you up to an hour or even more! And it’s just one foot in front of the other. Mentally, that’s difficult. It’s hard for you to stay focused in that and keep going. The minute your mind wanders and starts to think about how bored you are, the minute your run is over. You’ve lost it.

HIIT, on the other hand, is easier to keep up with because your brain gets to keep switching from one activity to another. Even if you’re doing a Tabata workout (where you do 20 seconds on 10 seconds off 8x of the same exercise) your brain is busy counting reps, counting rounds, counting sets.

HIIT workouts don’t last as long

Have 30-45 minutes? Yes. Of course you do. Make time.

HIIT workouts don’t have to be done for an entire hour because you are working so hard building strength, endurance and power all at the same time. Gone are the days of long stretches on the treadmill followed by isolated muscle movements (praise!!)

HIIT is more helpful in your everyday life – when was the last time you “ellipticaled” in real life… like, that motion doesn’t exist. I know the elliptical has all sorts of benefits, but if you don’t have bad knees and you’re relatively able-bodied, you should ditch the elliptical and do something that you’ll use in every day life. Sometimes you need to jump over something. HIIT training helps you with that. Sometimes you need to lift something heavy off the ground (like a few cylindrical cement blocks I recently had to lift up – I got into my legs and goblet squatted those shits.). Sometimes you need to toss something into your trunk. Wall balls prepare you for that.

It burns more calories during AND AFTER you workout

Ok. We all loooovvveeee talking about calories. And I don't talk about calories much but when I do, I'm talking about burning lots of them (not counting them)...

Box jumps. Rest. Pushups. Rest. Burpees. Rest. Jumping lunges. Rest. Plank Jacks. Rest. Tricep dips. Rest. Wall Balls. Rest. REPEAT!

Whew. I’m just tired thinking about that! That’s what a HIIT workout is – quick AND HARD! Just think about how much energy it takes for your body to work like that compared to jogging. I’m not tired thinking about jogging… my muscles don’t hurt thinking about jogging…

So what’s this about burning calories after you’re done working out? Your muscles are getting stronger, ergo your resting metabolic rate is going to be higher. This basically means you can now sit on the couch and those potato chips that you’re eating like, won’t count… (please tell me you know that the part about the potato chips isn’t true… you should be either detoxing your body or fueling your cells when you eat. Potato chips do neither.)

So where can I find this type of workout in Nashville? These are just a few great options:

Chances are you fall into one of these extremely scientific body shape categories because we all do. We’re all mostly the same and it’s easy to figure out the exact best way for you to workout in order for you to look like a super model and still eat hamburgers with a milkshake every day for dinner.

If you decided you are peanut shaped, please know that there’s a hit of sarcasm in the top two paragraphs. ( Click here for a hilarious BuzzFeed Video - Signs You’ve Found Your Sarcastic Soulmate )

The best way to workout for your body types depends on exactly one thing: how do you like working out? What’s going to keep you motivated? What are your goals?

There’s no one that can answer all of these questions for you except for you. ( Because, remember, YOU ARE ENOUGH !)

There’s no trainer or gym owner that can tell you that they can offer you the best kind of workout either. It might be their favorite kind of workout but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to be your favorite kind of workout. The bottom line is that if you don’t enjoy it and don’t want to do the work, it won’t work. Maybe you go every day for a month and you really start to see results, but every time you go you are waiting for it to end… you’re waiting to go home. And every day it gets harder and harder to get out of your car and walk into the gym. That workout isn’t for you. Or maybe it’s not the right community. A lot of gyms have a pretty specific type of individual that they cater to and that might not be the type of community that you’re looking to find.

The type of workout that is the best type of workout for you, is the one where you look forward to going. HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean that you’re just going to pick up a workout routine just like that and go every day. Structure supports intuition - what does that mean? It means that you need to start scheduling your workouts AND ACTUALLY GO, and then before you know it, it’s not that hard to squeeze one into your busy day. You’ll learn to love the endorphins that pump through your body during and after a workout. You’ll learn to love the way you feel. You’ll learn to love to workout.

But before we get to ahead of ourselves with this whole “you’ll learn to love to workout” thing, let’s define what “working out” actually is. For some, it’s going to the gym, lifting weights, running on the treadmill, watching a video on the elliptical and then trying to do some pull ups. But for most of us, it’s a lot different (thank goodness):

A workout can be:

Yoga (like at Shakti Power Yoga )

Taking a walk (at Edwin Warner or Percy Warner perhaps)

Taking a jog (have you been to Radnor )

Shoveling the ice out of your driveway (your driveway any day this week …)

Crossfit ( ProVita in Germantown and GoPerformance in Cummins Station both have great trainers and small classes)

HIIT training (like at GetFit615 or Results Fitness! )

Barre (Barre Amped , Barre3 , actual ballet at the Nashville Ballet Community Classes …)

Cycling ( Krank )

Twerkout ( Code JAY )

Rock Climbing ( Climb Nashville )

Boxing ( HotBox , Music City Boxing , Title Boxing )…

You get the point. Anything can be a workout as long as you’re getting your heart rate up and getting your sweat on and HAVING FUN!

Now lets define “having fun” because we all know that the actual activity is going to be difficult. Your muscles are going to burn, you’re going to start sweating, you might actually be sore the next day! But “having fun” happens all throughout the workout and even sticks around afterwards. Part of what makes a workout fun is the community that surrounds you - are the people that go there inviting? Do they make you want to be there? Do they motivate you? Is the trainer fun? Is he or she uplifting? Does he or she push you a little harder in a positive way? Does he or she actually care about you? Another thing that makes the workout fun is it’s level of difficulty. Think Little Red Riding Hood for a second - if it’s too hard for you, you won’t like it. If it’s too easy, you won’t like it. If it’s just right… that’s the one for you!

But now let’s talk goals… If your goal is to try to look like a supermodel and still eat hamburgers every day, I can go ahead and tell you that you will fail at this. If you’re a small dude and you’re looking to get big and bulky but you really love going to barre, maybe you should reassess your goals. Why do you want to get big and bulky? Do you really want to put all that effort into eating ass loads of chicken and peanut butter when you hate lifting weights? Again, that’s your call. If you’re a chick with an athletic build and you’re looking for that long and lean look but you really like doing HIIT training, you’re probably not going to get super long and lean… but you also might have to realize that your body is not build long and lean. Just keep doing what you like! Just keep having fun!

So let 2015 be your year to find a workout that you actually like! If you’re having trouble finding that, I would love to help! If you need some advice or a workout buddy, just shoot me an email at I would LOVE to come and try something new with you and see if it’s your thing. Who knows, it might turn into my thing too!

Nashville Gym Owner: I Am Fat

All of our lives, we are lied to. We are lied to by society, we are lied to by our family, by our friends and by ourselves. We believe these lies. We respect them. We live and breathe by them and they become part of us, they become who we are. They shape our passions. They shape our interactions. They shape our path. They shape our relationships.

But some amazing news is that you can let them go. You can change these lies. You can find the truth. You don’t have to live these lies. You can choose to let them go and change who you are, how you live and the relationships you have with these lies.

Think of something that you’ve always known to be true. You are not enough . So you studied hard in school, did really well in college and followed your path like you were supposed to. And now you don’t have any passion for your job. You aren’t as happy as you think you could be. Think about that path you took - might it have looked different if you had known that you, in fact, ARE enough? Maybe you would have followed your passion, instead of money or instead of what’s “right.” Maybe you would have followed your dreams instead of someone else's.

Or maybe the lie you tell yourself is that you are not accepted . You always feel like an outsider in social situations. Or maybe you feel like people never invite you places. And well, with an attitude like that, you’re right! But think about going to that next social networking luncheon with the attitude that you are welcome and you are loved! It makes it easier to sit down at that table and just strike up a conversation with the person next to you! It’s only awkward if you make it awkward.

Another lie that we tell ourselves is that we’re alone. We tell ourselves that other people won’t understand. That they don’t know what we’re going through. We ignore OPE - other people’s experiences - because our situation is completely different. Totally different. No one else will understand. But when you learn to become a little vulnerable, and when you reach out to another person a little bit and let them in, it’s amazing how quickly you find out that your shit is the same. It boils down to the same feelings - fear, loneliness, abandonment, guilt, judgement, confusion… And that’s when the lie changes. You are not alone. You are loved.

So what’s the biggest lie that I tell myself and how has that shaped my life?

Growing up in the ballet world, in an all-girls school, with a tiny mother, with an endearing nickname ("fat-kid" I mean look at those cheeks and those legs, I was adorable!), with a family full of fat-shaming, fat pinching, amazing cooks, constant dieting and required second helpings… it lead me to lie to myself. To tell myself that I am fat. And damn I believed that.

Then I went to college. I lived in the gym. I counted calories instead of ingredients. I believed that I was fat. That “fat” was a way of being, it was my way of being. But it exhausted me. I was physically, mentally and emotionally exhausted. But I kept working out. I kept running. I kept going.

And then I went to Australia for a semester in college and didn’t work out. I gained about 15 pounds from drinking too much goon and eating too much food. And I didn’t work it off when I got home. I didn't have to. I didn't try to. The extra weight just fell off. Weight had never just fallen off like that before. I had been working all my life to lose weight and it just disappeared. I was back to my normal eating patterns and I felt good. I felt strong when I came back to the gym. It all felt so easy. I actually wanted to go to the gym. I didn’t have to force it. I actually wanted to eat well because it made me feel good. I stopped counting. I started listening to my body.

I found some forgiveness in Australia. I found some ease. I found some grace.

And that’s when the lie took the backseat to the truth - I am strong. I am powerful. I am enough.

In October, I opened up GetFit615 in Nashville because this life-long lie that “I am fat” led me to find the truth and led me to my passion. I want other people to find their truth and I want to help them any way that I can. I want for you to start learning that fat is not a feeling. Fat is not something that you can actually be. You have fat in your body. You have to have it to survive. You have skin, but you are not skin. You have muscles but you are not muscles. You have fingernails, but you are not fingernails. Our society has put this bizarre cap on the amount of fat that we are supposed to have in our bodies. But not all bodies are created equal - in fact, no bodies are created equal. So why do we let other people decide what our bodies are supposed to look like. That's so silly. So imagine how beautiful we would all be if we really lived in our bodies, and followed our passions… instead of living in our fat and running after the skinny train.

“I am fat” still exists for me. But when it creeps up, I recognize it. I smile at it and I tell it to f*** off.

We are all different. We are all talented in different ways. And you are meant to contribute to the world in your own particular way! So who are you not to shine?! The world needs you! Step up and do YOU! Be authentic. It’s one of the least selfish things you will ever do.

So what lie have you been telling yourself? Shake it. Change it. Be authentic.

Be Powerful.

Be Loved.

Be Open.

Be Vulnerable.

Be Strong.

Be Enough!

The Meaning of Grace and The Effect It has On All Our Lives

For a few weeks, I’ve been trying to write a post about Grace. I have about 5 pages of word vomit talking about grace and what it is and why we need it. But it took my mother being in town for me to find a little… I found some with her. We found it together. I asked for more from her, and she asked for more from me.

Grace (n.) – an attractively polite manner of behaving

Synonyms: respect, finesse, tact, politeness, courtesy, gracefulness

Respect (n.) – a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements

Synonyms: esteem, admiration, reverence, honor

Understanding (adj.) sympathetically aware of other people’s feelings; tolerant and forgiving; having insight or good judgment

Synonyms: compassionate, sympathetic, tender, kind, patient, merciful

Mom and I have had our differences. We have a history of not communicating. We choose to be “nice” instead of honest. We judge. We dig. We exhaust.

I imagine these problems won’t go away, but I hope there is a clearer line of honesty, grace and communication.

Grace starts with communication. Grace is expressing a problem and leaving the problem and the emotion out on the table so that the two of you can discuss it. Maybe you don’t solve anything – maybe there’s no way it can be solved. But as long as both parties are heard, that’s what grace is. Grace is shoved away when we blame and point fingers. Grace is gone when there is a lack of respect. Grace is gone when we become hard. Grace is gone when we choose not to understand. Grace is gone when the shame and the guilt start to creep in.

Grace is realizing that, even though you think that someone leaves a mess on their bedside table just to spite you, perhaps their mess doesn’t have anything to do with you in the slightest. Perhaps it’s just how they are. Perhaps it is to spite you. Perhaps it is to spite someone else. But you’ll never know unless you open up this line of graceful communication.

Grace is stress-eating an entire bag of potato chips when you know they’re not good for you, and not feeling guilty.

Grace is recognizing your stress next time, and choosing to handle it differently.

Grace is treating your body with kindness.

Grace is telling someone that they’ve hurt you. That you’re aware that your hurt comes from a long line of hurting, but that it still hurts and you don’t know how to change that… and still not giving up.

Grace is hearing someone tell you that they’re sorry.

Grace is hearing someone tell you that you’ve hurt them too.

Grace is telling someone you’re sorry.

Grace is getting a workout in when you need one. It’s hearing your body tell you that you need a release.

Grace is taking a week away from the gym when you need one. It’s hearing your body tell you that it needs a break.

Grace is laughing when you need to.

Grace is understanding that other people go through your same shit. It’s not different, but it is… because it’s someone else.

Grace is crying when you need to. Sometimes it’s a tear, sometimes it gets ugly.

Grace is respecting.

Grace is personal.

Grace is forgiving.

Grace is understanding.

Take a deep breath. Close your eyes. Find some grace for yourself. Find some grace for your surroundings.

Close your eyes.

Engage your ujjayi pranayama: your victorious breath

On your next inhale, reach up: Tadasana.

Oh your next exhale, fold forward and flow through on your breath and meet in downward facing dog.

When a posture begins to get the best of you, it’s because you’ve disconnected from your breath. When your mind takes over, it’s because you’ve disconnected from your breath.

Reset your breath and begin again.

Yoga’s got it together. Every time I practice I hear the same thing over and over.

Next time you’re at the gym, apply this:

On your next exhale, engage your core and pull up. Lower slowly on your inhale.

Congratulations you just did a pull up.

Going for a back squat PR? Try this:

Slowly lower your hips. On your next strong exhale, engage your core, shift your gaze upward and lift your chest, lift your hips, drive through your heels and keep engaging your core!

Congratulations, you just PRd.

Noun: repeated exercise in or performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it.

Practice used in a sentence: My practice today was great! I almost nailed side crow. I can’t wait to try again tomorrow.

Why do we think of yoga as such a practice and then totally disconnect from that when it comes to practicing our pull ups? Or our kettle bell swings? Or our box jumps?

Too often we think of our workout as an hour that we take in the morning or afternoon to burn calories. This is why we only sometimes workout. This is why we fall “off the wagon.” This is why we, as a nation, don’t like to use our bodies to the fullest of their abilities, are overweight, and dying from heart disease. Mashable posted a funny video with Nick Offerman from Parks and Recreation where Nick points out:

If humans could fly, we would consider it exercise and never do it.

Every week it amazes me to watch clients come in and they’re suddenly able to do something that they couldn’t do the week before. It’s because they’ve been putting in the time to practice both in the gym and outside of the gym. It’s because they’ve been seeing the benefits of their practice. They’re getting stronger. They’re eating well. They’re drinking more water. First it’s a forearm plank, then it’s a straight-arm plank in the TRX, then it’s TRX knee tucks and then it’s TRX pikes! You have to crawl before you can walk, and you have to plank before you can pike.

So this week, I encourage you to practice living a healthy lifestyle instead of burning an hours worth of calories. To practice getting stronger instead of trying to get a bigger butt. To practice building core strength so you can pike into a handstand instead of trying to get a 6-pack for summer.

I also encourage you to take a deep breath before your next back squat as well as that moment before you flip off the guy in the car next to you.

I encourage you to listen to your body as much as you listen to music.

I encourage you to give yourself as much grace and understanding as you give your dog when she’s missed you all-day and chewed up your blanket in a moment of weakness…

I encourage you to flip the box to a level that’s higher than you thought you could do.

I encourage you to try something new.

I encourage you to take a child’s pose when you feel like you need one, instead of paying attention to the person that’s in birds of paradise on the mat next to you.

I encourage you to take a step towards the TRX anchor during your next chest press. I bet you can do it.

I encourage you to play, to see what your body can do. And when it can't today, try again tomorrow. And when it can today, see where else you can take it.

I encourage you to breathe.

I encourage you to practice.

Getting out of the house is hard when it's this cold. So maybe, instead of beating yourself up for not going on a run today, do this inside instead (also, stop beating yourself up about everything! You are enough!).

45 seconds on 15 seconds rest

Run your stairs with one burpee at the top and one at the bottom. 3x

“Box Jumps” – 3x

Start in a squat position. Then, with both feet, jump to the second or third stair. Stand all the way up at the top. Step back down to the floor. Repeat.

Jumping Jacks – 3x

Pushups – 3x

Use the stairs to create an incline – this will actually help you get stronger. Dropping to your knees on a pushup does help make the pushup easier, but you’re losing so much of the benefit when you do this.

Slow Mountain Climbers – 3x

Find a high pushup position (you can use an incline here if you need to). Bring your right knee into your forehead – now bring it a little closer to your forehead. Slowly. Shoot it back. Now switch legs. Keep switching legs. The slower you do this and the closer you bring your knee into your forehead, the more benefit you’ll receive.

Forearm Plank – 3x

Broad Jumps – Stair edition

Time to get that heart rate back up! This move is just like a box jump but you’ll continue going up. So start in that bottom squat position and explode up to the second or third stair, stand up. Keep going up the stairs in that same fashion. Jog back down when you get to the top. Repeat.

Making New Years Resolutions is hard. We normally don’t put all that much thought into them, but through January a lot of passion is put forth regarding these resolutions… then we fall off the wagon.

Let’s turn your 2015 New Years Resolutions into REVOLUTIONS by creating S.M.A.R.T. Goals.

What’s a S.M.A.R.T. Goal?

Specific – what EXACTLY do you want to accomplish?

Measurable – how will you know that you have accomplished this goal?

Attainable – can you actually accomplish this goal? Be COMPLETELY honest with yourself.

Relevant – so you’ve set a goal… do you actually want to accomplish it? Is it worth it? Write down your reasons.

Timely – by when will your goal be accomplished? Not “fall” but September 15…

So here are some of my S.M.A.R.T. Goals for the year:

SPECIFIC GOAL – Stop pressing the snooze button

MEASURABLE – This is an on-going goal that will be measured daily when my alarm goes off.

ATTAINABLE – I know that to change this habit, I have to change this routine. The routine looks like this: alarm goes off (cue), I press snooze (habit), I relax back into my bed (reward).

I will change this to look like this: alarm goes off (cue), I GET UP AND MAKE COFFEE (yumm – new habit!), I relax back into my bed while the coffee brews (reward). The key here is that the cue and the reward have to stay the same. (Recommended reading on Habits: The Power Of Habit) It takes my coffee 4 minutes to brew and in the 4 minutes, I will turn on the lights and enjoy those minutes in my bed collecting my thoughts for the day.

I will also stop setting my alarm so early. I normally give myself 30 minutes of snooze time. I will eliminate this portion and just set my alarm for when I actually need to wake up.

RELEVANT – All my life I’ve been a “2 more minutes” person. Then my mornings are rushed and then I’m not fully present when I arrive where ever I’m supposed to be because I haven’t given myself enough time to get prepared in the morning. Also, pressing snooze doesn’t actually let me sleep more… it just makes me groggy! It’s a bad habit and I want to quit it!

TIMELY – This is a cold turkey S.M.A.R.T. Goal for the year – I will do this on January 1 and continue daily throughout the year. I will give myself grace when I fail, and hop back on the wagon the very next day.

SPECIFIC – Food with refined or added sugars is only allowed 1 day per month

MEASURABLE – This goal will restart monthly beginning January 1.

ATTAINABLE – Changing my eating habits as well as changing my mindset will accomplish this goal. Fortunately, I don’t struggle with eating sweets at home because I just don’t buy them. It’s when I’m out and about. So the habit looks like this: see sweet food and have craving (cue), eat sweet food (habit), feel satisfied (reward).

I will change this habit to: see sweet food and have craving (cue), drink water (habit), feel satisfied (reward).

I recognize that drinking water isn’t the same as eating a sweet food, but it will help curb my habit and change what it is that I reach for.

When I originally decided to limit my sugar intake, I had decided I would go all of 2015 without eating any added sugars. This had to be adjusted to “consume added sugars only one day per month” because cutting out added sugars for an entire year was only going to set me up for failure.

RELEVANT – Refined and added sugars make me feel sluggish. In my line of work, sluggish-ness really affects my body and my mood. When my body can’t perform and my mood isn’t positive and encouraging, my clients suffer and therefore my business suffers.

TIMELY – This goal will be accomplished monthly. Instead of setting a goal that takes an entire year, I will be able to press the reset button each month. This helps the goal feel less burdensome.

Other Goals that I have for the year:

To be more present - when I'm talking to someone, actually be there with them. Who ever is calling, texting, or emailing can wait. I'm fortunate to get to spend my life with people that I love and I owe them the respect and love that they give me. The very least I can do is give presence.

To be more open - 2014 has been a whirlwind of opportunity for me and it's because I was open to happiness and open to opportunity and open to support. I find that the more open I am to being helped and being loved, the more happiness I tend to find. I want to keep it up for 2015!

To follow through - one of my goals for 2014 was to actually follow through with anything that I committed to. Sometimes I over committed and then I would have to back out and I hate that! I want people to respect my time so I am resolving to respect others time! I feel like I got good at putting things on my calendar in 2014 and I want to get even better at that in 2015 by learning how to say "no" to things that I actually don't want to do or put on my calendar. That way I don't have to back out.

Nashville's Local Grocer - The Best Places To Shop To Help You Maintain A Healthy Lifestyle - The Turnip Truck

The Turnip Truck is one of our favorite places around town for so many reasons - breakfast, lunch, dinner, juice, groceries, supplements, environmentally healthy cleaning supplies, advice... anything you need!

Owner, John Dyke, was kind enough to answer a few questions about the Turnip Truck for us! Thanks John!

How did the Turnip Truck get started?

I've lived in East Nashville for 23 years now. Before I opened the first Turnip Truck 13 years ago, I used to drive over to the old Sunshine Grocery that was located on Belmont. Visiting their store, I would constantly run into my neighbors who also enjoyed the lifestyle of a local natural foods store and I realized there was a real need for this in East Nashville. My childhood on a farm was also a guiding force in wanting to work with local farmers. In the beginning, Delvin Farms was our first certified organic farmer. The summer before the store opened, Hank and Cindy's son, Eric, and his wife Rain would set up a small local organic farm stand in East Nashville on 12th & Fatherland. With the love of sourcing food local, my passion expanded to include organic produce and foods.

What's your favorite item that can be found at the Turnip Truck?

Anything that is certified organic and locally grown.

The Turnip Truck West has an amazing hot bar... what's your secret!?

We start out each day with fresh ingredients and prepare all items from scratch each day! We have a great team with great ideas.

Speaking of, will you ever add one to Turnip Truck East?

We sure hope to in the very near future.

Turnip Truck vs. Whole Foods. Discuss.

The Turnip Truck has a great respect for Whole Foods for bringing such a large audience to the awareness of fresh, natural organic, and local foods.

What would you say is the key to a healthy life?

Understanding that food is the fuel for energy and life. Making the best choices in food will help with overall quality of life. Exercising your mind and your body. Slowing down and being patient. Treating others like you want to be treated.

To supplement or not to supplement.

There can be great benefits to adding supplements to your diet. I share this with my staff at all times- when a person comes in for the first time, supplements could be the greatest benefit for them at the moment. But then adopt the approach that the best way to get the benefit of minerals, nutrients, and enzymes is from the fresh natural organic food that we sell. As I say, supplements are to supplement what we are not getting from our food. It also depends on the person, their quality of life, and their personal needs. Each person's body is different. We try to understand what is happening with them and suggest a plan to help them achieve total success. Our juice bar is one of the best ways to get vitamins, minerals, and enzymes in a fresh healthy form that is easily absorbed and digested in the body. If you tried to eat the amount of produce that one juice has, it would not be possible at one meal. We use 100% organic produce on our juice bars when it is available and local produce when it is in season. (At times when it is not available, we will use non-organic and let the customer know.)

You guys have some great local products. How do you find them?

From day one, we have been out having conversations in the community. We are always looking for new local products and have been very fortunate that some find us before we find them. It is always exciting when we find a new local producer. On the produce side, we only focus on farmers that have been certified organic with the USDA. It is a true validation that the food is grown in accordance with guidelines and that the one main focus today is that the seeds have to be truly non-GMO seeds. Ever since we opened, certified organic is very critical for us and the true main focus today is having products that are non-GMO. Seeds that have not been changed from their true form.

When you're not at the Turnip Truck, what are you doing?

Recently I purchased a small farm in Lynnville, TN and enjoy spending the weekends on the land and this season, I am doing some personal organic produce farming.

What are some of your favorite healthy local eateries?

I love and prefer any that have a focus on local foods that are in season. In the East - Café Margot and March'e buy local when in season. Silly goose does a great job on local and fresh. Sloco on 12th is wonderful. Silo in Germantown... Of course my all time favorite is the Turnip Truck. My first grab in the store is a fresh juice made from our juice bar.

So if you're looking for a great bite to eat or just need some friendly advice on how to live a healthier lifestyle, you can check out the Turnip Truck on their website , follow them on Twitter (East) or Twitter (Gulch) , say hello on Facebook . Or just stop by a store! They'd love to say hello!

Best Workout Gear In Nashville

So present time is upon us! Oh, sorry... I mean, The Holidays! Anyway, so now is an amazing time to stock up on things (that are on sale) for your loved ones (and yourself)! With a New Year, comes New Year's resolutions, or as I like to call them, revolutions! And we will all resolve to live a healthier lifestyle this year right?! So let's actually turn that resolution that you've made for the last 5-10 years into a revolution this year! We can start at the very beginning (a very good place to start) and discuss gear/attire that you do actually need in order to make a go of this revolution. And maybe, just maybe, this year it will stick and come 2016, you can focus on all new resolutions!

We all struggle to find the right clothes for our different life activities. We work, we run, we shop, we sit, we sweat, we lounge, we hike... and sometimes we do all of those things back to back. How is one supposed to live their life doing things they love instead of doing laundry all freaking day long?!

These days it's not workout gear vs. life gear. We all know the jean industry is going out of business because of the yoga pant business right? Thank goodness because I don't even like sitting at a desk in jeans! And guys, chances are, you can just as easily wear a polo shirt to work, on the golf course and at the gym - if you get the right fabric.

So here's a list of great places to shop in Nashville and what the best finds are:

lulu is great for - yoga and yoga related gear, running, crossfit, weight lifting, golfing, every-day, hiking, sweaters (omg the sweaters)...

Most highly recommended items for women - W under Under Pant , Flow Y Bra IV

Most highly recommended items for men - Surge Short 7" , Studio Tee

Tips for shopping at lulu -

3 words - T H E S A L E R A C K!

lulu's sale racks aren't full of crap, they're just full of last season's stuff. I'm ok with last season's stuff. Next, if you're new to lulu, don't be shy! Their staff is amazeballs and they are so willing to help you. Tell them how you like to workout and they will help you find the right gear! The best part about lulu is "once a 6, always a 6." I never have to shop around for the right pant size because I know I wear a 6 at lulu.

Eww Opry Mills... I know, I know. But you'll thank me.

Reebok is great for - SHOES.

Most highly recommended items for women - CrossFit Nano 4.0 - these are not for runners, but they're basically for anyone else. Don't let the whole CrossFit thing scare you off here. I promise you they're amazing.

Most highly recommended items for men - CrossFit Nano 4.0 - same goes for the guys here: these aren't for long distance running, don't let the whole CrossFit thing scare you, I promise they're amazing...

If you're looking for running, go see the folks at Fleet Feet in Green Hills. They are experts at fitting for runners.

Athleta is great for - women - yoga, running, day-to-day...

Most highly recommended items for women - Static Drifter Capri , Cashmere Crave Sweater

Tips for shopping at Athleta - Try everything on! Sometimes you're going to be a small, sometimes not. Wiggle around in things - For instance, I LOVE my Static Drifter Capris, but they suck for jumping jacks because they fall down around my waist. Don't get stuck in the sweater section for too long because you will. buy. everything.

Just make a day of it at Opry Mills - go to Off Broadway while you're at it. Or a movie!

Anyway, Nike is great for - runners, CrossFit, standard Gym gear

My most prized Nike possessions are my Nike Pro Classic Sports Bras . They're amazing for anything that's high intensity - box jumps, burpees, running, mountain climbers...

They make great compression anything so dudes, if you need that...

CT is great for - "Travel, Climb, Fish, Paddle, Hike"

A S K AN E M P L O Y E E F O R H E L P! These people work here because they LOVE the outdoors - ask them what they like, ask them where to go, ask them anything!

Gyms are a great place to get gear because usually it's exactly what you need. And most of the time they're branded and aren't you proud that you go there?! Show it off!!

Pants and shoes are the most important parts about your workout attire because they need to be functional. Shirts are pretty versatile. However, ( PSA ALERT ) ladies, your bodies are amazing! Stop trying to hide them underneath giant gross t-shirts that just collect your sweat and make you uncomfortable in down-dog, planks, anything that's jumping, running, spinning... everything. Purchase 2-3 good shirts that you feel motivated in, and that are actually comfortable and functional, and just rotate.

So let this year be a revolution! Show the world what you're made of and stick with your resolution all year - actually live a healthy lifestyle! Feel better, look better, sleep better, live better, be better! Think of all the amazing things that can happen!

How To Spend the Holidays in Nashville, TN.... Balanced!!

So here we are, it’s the “Holiday Season” filled with booze, food, family, parties and presents. It’s overwhelming to think about the Holiday Season! This might help: the “Holiday Season” really starts when football season starts – that’s when the beer, the dips, the wings and the friends start coming over. And then it’s Halloween – cheap, sugary, processed candy for weeks! Then Thanksgiving, Advent, Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanza, New Year’s Eve…

And then it abruptly ends. We’re feeling broke, bloated, cold, and unmotivated. And that’s because, for the past 4 months, you’ve lost track of “real-life.” You’ve stopped saying “no” when you’ve had enough to eat, you’ve stopped exercising, and you’ve probably stopped taking any time to yourself.

So don’t give up your favorite glass of wine or your grandmother’s pecan pie, just learn to have a little bit of self-love this Holiday Season and find some balance!

Top 5 Things To Keep You Balanced During the Holidays:

1) Sweat Everyday

Sweating is one of your body’s avenues for releasing toxins. Toxic build up can lead to migraines, weight gain, fatigue and many other symptoms of toxicity. By sweating, you are giving your body the opportunity to release and let go of those toxins in order to regain balance.

Affirmation for moving and sweating daily: “I want to sweat every day because it makes me feel happier and healthier!”

2) Drink Water

If you feel thirsty, you are already dehydrated! Staying hydrated is one of the most important things you can do to keep your body in balance and to help your skin have a natural glow. Drinking Herbal Teas can also be a great way to hydrate while receiving other benefits from the herbs. Check out High Garden Tea in East Nashville for more information on herbal teas!

Tip: Keep a water bottle with you all of the time so your water is accessible. I like a Nalgene or S’well water bottle.

3) Treat Yourself

It is not that one piece of pie that leads to your weight gain and toxicity, it’s the fourth or fifth. Chronic behaviors lead to symptoms and cravings, so stay balanced by treating yourself occasionally.

Affirmation: “ My body does not need all of the excess. One piece is enough. I am satisfied.”

4) Have fun

Having fun and letting loose is SO healthy. Laughing and spending time with friends reminds you who you are and what life is really about. Make sure that every activity is not revolving around food or alcohol. Take time to go for hikes or have a tea party instead!

Tip: Instead of going out to eat and drinks with friends, try this: Plan to go to the farmers market together to get things to make for dinner at home. Then laugh, prepare and cook it all together!

5) Quiet Time

Balancing social time with some quiet time will allow you to reflect and enjoy the silence. Take some shameless time to yourself to read a book or go on a walk or get back in the gym.

Often finding herself practicing handstands during her 9-5, Kate started GetFit615 in March of 2014 with one goal in mind: get people to sweat more. GetFit615 hosted many free events around town with the intention of giving people an option to try new things - GetFit615 teamed up with ProVita, a new gym over in Germantown, and just hosted a fun free workout so people could experience their amazing new facility. GetFit615 hosted a series at Bicentennial Mall with Trace Morgan Fitness and Shakti Yoga; even hosted an event in Franklin featuring Sweat Franklin, Practice Studios, lululemon, Hot Yoga Plus, and Title Boxing. Then the opportunity arose for GetFit615 to move into the space below Shakti Power Yoga on Music Row and it felt like a no-brainer!

Kate's goals with personal training are to teach clients how to use their bodies properly and how to nourish their bodies effectively. She believes that fitness is a lifestyle, not a 6 week program or an hour long workout. She uses functional training and will never do exactly the same workout twice! She keeps it fun, energetic and sweaty!

Kate's goal is to bring her values of community, partnership, inspiration and acceptance into the gym. Everyone, every strength and every body is invited to GetFit615!
