Top 4 Things To Know Before Drinking & Driving
1) Know the law!

Part of being a responsible drinker in Nashville, Tennessee is knowing the Tennessee Alcohol Laws.

-Legal age for drinking/serving alcohol is 21 years and up.

-Open Container Laws – Tennessee allows passengers in a vehicle to consume alcohol, but it is not legal for the driver to do so.

-If an adult driver (21 years and up) is found to have Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) that is at least .08% or above, that driver faces arrest and DUI charges.

2) Do not drink and drive!

If you’ve had a few drinks and are questioning whether to drive…Don’t!! Please call a ride or a designated sober driver. If you are planning to drink, please be responsible and plan accordingly.

3) If you are pulled over by police, please remain calm and cooperative.

The police officer will ask for your license, registration and insurance information, which should be voluntarily given. You have a right to remain silent if questioned about drinking. You also have a right to decline a field sobriety test.

-Tennessee has an implied consent law. Please note that if you refuse a breathalyzer test, you will lose your driver’s license. Also, please note that under certain conditions you may be required to take a blood and/or breath test.

4) If you are arrested and charged with a DUI, please contact an attorney right away.

A DUI charge is a serious matter, and you need an attorney to protect your rights and interest. Mr. Lynch has been handling DUI cases for over 35 years and has vast knowledge of the Tennessee DUI laws.
